Can anyone recommend any online baseball games that are currently out there? I'm playing SimDynasty and I've played CSFBL (computer simulated fantasy baseball league) and the beta of CSMB (college small market baseball). I'm also aware of the Strat-O-Matic games online with the Sporting News and the SMB from the CSMB developers (Chromosphere); my question is if there are any others out there anyone is aware of?
If you've played any of these, can you point out plusses and minuses for them?

I played the SMB demo for a few months this summer (it's now $19.95 for... something, apparently between 3 and 6 seasons. Their pricing scheme is a little weird.)
Plusses: Includes four levels of minor leagues, the only game I know of to do so.
Minuses: (deep breath)
Poor interface.
It took eons to develop minor leaguers if you did it manually, or you could automate it and lose too much control for my taste (rather like TCY, I suppose).
In the demo the developers put (IMO) way too much time into adding new, not-particularly-interesting features and too little into fixing the many serious bugs.
Among these (I really hope they eventually fixed this) was a bug which basically ignored the set rotation - there were any number of 70-start, 550-inning performances.
Pretty much all minor leaguers would eventually improve enough to be solid major leaguers, regardless of talent; and all of them would take about six years to do so, also regardless of talent.
Free agency was something of a joke (again, at the time - I'd have to hope this was fixed); you could "snipe" FAs by waiting until five minutes before the end of the sim and upping the highest offer by a few bucks, meaning that unless you spent, almost literally, all day on the site you'd never sign one.
Injuries seemed to be allotted randomly, and never had any long-term effects. I wouldn't think you could possibly simulate professional baseball without taking into account the fact that most young pitchers get seriously hurt at some point in the minors, but they tried.
I'll admit that my personal standards for what I'll accept in a baseball sim may be too high, but I can't imagine anyone looking for a serious game would enjoy SMB, unless it has made absolutely mammoth strides in the last six months. On the other hand, if you want something unserious and sorta fun, you might want to check it out...

SMB is SimGM now. The interface is completely redesigned, we have not started charging for the game ... even though our main page says we are.
All the Stats bugs have been fixed.
Minor league drafts may make 1-2 good players if your lucky...
Ratings are more hidden then before, and aer dependant on your scouting budget.
Free Agent Sniping was fixed... and is going to improve even more with a couple of additional fixes. You actual offer is unknown... instead other owners will see a number somewhat close to what you are offering... you can also set a % to up your bid too. we are working on offering a couple of perks you can offer players.
Pitch counts are huge in the latest release. A players career pitch count will dicatate not only injuries but also how he pitches.
Player development and the ratings systems underwent huge developments.
The demo is not up to date thats on the site, but as I said you can sign up for a team and there is now charge right now.

The signup only needs a valid email address, a username and password. Slow league is in mid season, the fast league is just starting free agency.

Hey Matt,
I signed up for a team but haven't received any confirmation mail at the e-mail address I signed up with. When I logged-in, it told me I had () tokens available for new teams, and (0) teams currently owned.

Email me at
[email protected], and I will forward the confirmation letter to you. Sometimes the confirmation letter gets sent to your junk mail folder.

Maybe is the steriods... it generally does not happen but once and a great while we will see it happen. No big deal, I can activate accounts manually as well.
