I'm having problems with Windows XP. Every time I restart the computer the display area reappears small. I change the size back to 1025 x 768 every time, but then if I restart it comes back small. Its getting annoying having to resize the desktop every time I restart. Any ideas?

You should call Microsoft and ask for "the Big Man".

No I'm not quite sure how to fix that problem. :(

Wow this is a strange one. I would try a couple of things at first. Also give me some more details.

Is it a desktop or laptop?
What is your video card?
What version of Direct X do you have installed?

Give me that info then I have a few things you can try.

Its a Dell laptop. My video card is some type of NVidia. I don't know what version of Direct X I have.

First off all, make sure that you've got the right driver for the video card.

Secondly, check hxxp://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. If your version of DirectX is out of date, it will show up (I think under the recommended updates instead of the critical updates, but I could be wrong)

ok, goto www.dell.com

see if they have an nvidia driver for your macine model. There should be a dell number on your computer. If you put this number in on their support page, it will bring up the specs on your computer.

Then goto the part where you download drivers. See if they have a video driver for direct x 9.0. If they do download that. Do not install it yet, just download it.

Then goto www.microsoft.com/directx download and install direct x 9.0.

Remember only do the above if Dell has a direct 9.0 version of the driver for your video card on your dell.

If they do not. Download the most current version they have of your video driver and install it. That will probably fix your problem. If windows uses its default driver, the scaling and rez are a bit goofy.

Any questions post em up.

1025x768 should give you problems. Now, 1024x768, that might work. :D

When you say small, do you mean the resolution is higher? If so, what is the resolution when you reboot? Also, I'm assuming you are the admin of the box?

bone, I think he means the screen is in the middle of his laptop view. So you are only getting like half the viewing on your monitor.
