I'm getting a new computer and am trying to remember what to do with FOF 2004. My questions:

1. Do I need to "unlicense" the product
2. Is it possible to save careers and transfer them to the new computer

I am severely technically challenged and could use as much step by step guidance as possible for this. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

1. I think you only need to unlicense it if you already have the game on 2 computers.. I'm pretty sure it just comes with 2 licenses.

2. Transfer your games by copying either your "universe" folder or your "leagues" folder to the new computer, depending on if you're doing single or multi player.

1. FOF2004 comes with two licenses which allows you to install the program on two computers. If you are retiring the computer you are currently using, you should unlicense the game, so that you will have access to this license in the future.

To unlicense the game
- Open the Control Panel
- Open eLicense Control
- Open Solescismic Software - You might see two entries for FOF 2004, a version 5.0d and 1.1 - I have no idea what the 1.1 is.
- Right click on FOF2004 5.0d and select unlicense.

Now there is a bug with unlicensing that manifest if you have ever upgraded the game (installed version 5.0a and then patched to 5.0d). If you have done this, there will not be an option to unlicense FOF2004. You are out of luck at this point and will have to email [email protected] and ask for them to release the license. Explain the problem, and include you order ID. They got back to me in a day.

2. To transfer your career.
- Solo career - just copy the universe folder
- Multiplayer - copy the leagues folder
- If you have edited any of the cities (not nicknames) you may need to copy the some of the .fdt files from the main FOF2004 directory (cities.fdt and/or citydata.fdt)
