I was talking my ploy to make a quick buck and see if people would buy "Cubs Suck" t-shirts...then it hit me!
What does this community need that would make it complete? T-shirts. Thats right. If you happen to wear your sleek "FOFC" t-shirt out on the town and you happen to run into another guy wearing the shirt, you could ask him what personality he is on the boards and have a nice conversation.
That got me to thinking. I wonder how many times you walk past a fellow FOFC'er without even knowing it? Who knows.
Now if you are both wearing your shirt (or if just one of you recognizes the shirt from a distance) we could take advantage of some good times. :)
I am willing to sell FOFC t-shirts with a cool saying on it (I will leave that up to the veterans of the board) for like $10. That way, not only am I doing a service by making this community that much more tight, I make my quick buck and put some money away for the next great sims that are going to come out.
What if I charged $8 for the actual shirt and $2 or $3 shipping (depending on where you live), would you do it?
Just trying to get an idea of what kind of market there will be for these great shirts before I go to the printer and purchase some.
I hope you don't think this is a joke, because believe me it's not! :)
OK....who wants one (or two?).

Yeah, I thought I remembered somebody doing a shirt with the names of all of the FOFC posters on the back of it, kinda like those "Class of XX" shirts you see so many elementary school-age kids wearing...

I was thinking "FOFC" big across the chest and then we think of a cool saying or something to put on the back. I would be happy to distribute these. Again, not a joke. :)

I always thought it would be cool for the t-shirt to have "FOFC" across the front, and on the back your userhandle with maybe some numbers (like a sports jersey). Although, I'd have to change mine ... I'm ashamed to be a Lions fan

As was mentioned above, there have been several attempts made to gauge interest for FOFC shirts made by several members, including myself, and I believe the concensus from the earlier polls were that FOFC on the front and usernames on the back.

No.
I like the idea of FOFC on the front and the persons username on the back. I think this would cost more but you could have the option of getting your handle on the back.
I might set up a small easy website to see how many people would actually be interested in purchasing one.

A year or so ago an idea came to that a FOFC '03 shirt should be made with a list of the top like.. 500 (or however many could fit, rpobably more), usernames listed like a class of ___ tshirt. It fell through..

It fell through..That's the one I remember. And of course, someone started in with the (good-natured) whining about how CHEMICAL SOLDIER's name was in caps, so he'd stand out above all of us.
I clearly remember those couple of days. It started with a huge post of nothing but potential slogans, then someone else started a thread with the "class of" idea, and I also recall there being the South Park character shirt, where each of us would go to that SP character creation website, create our own SP likeness, and use that on the shirt. Nothing ever came of any single one of those ideas....

As if making a shirt for a message board about text sports simulation games wasn't dorky enough, we'll now use jokes from another message board on our shirt!!!

I was thinking the same thing. There are probably hundreds of mesage boards that this is a running joke on. We aren't special in that regard, and I wouldn't want to use that.
I want something so FOFC-specific, people will think I'm some sort of half-geek, half-snob (read: full geek with some sort of unfounded superiority complex) that gets a kick out of using inside jokes that only a few hundred people in the entire world would get. And knowing that none of those people will likely ever see my shirt will ensure that those that do see it, won't get the joke at all. Thus demonstrating my superiority over all of "the others" (I would have included "my dignity," but I pre-ordered OOTP6).

Dude, no offense, but while I don't think anyone would mind giving the person who sets up a shirt some cash for his trouble, looking to "make a quick buck" off this probably ain't gonna fly.

Just because of the wording? I was going to do this in another way but now I figured I would sell t-shirts here. The "quick buck" thing has nothing to do with it anymore.

I've got a "MinerDigs" T-shirt with my name from the UTEP message board that I frequent. It's actually come in handy recognizing people at games a couple of times. Of course, that's not going to work as well for an FOFC shirt since we're all so spread all over the place...
But I would still get one if there were a good design and it wasn't too expensive... :)

My t-shirt idea....
on the front:
FOFC
on the back: (something like this, maybe updated or condensed)
We have encountered many crossroads in our membership of late. We thrill over special moments in our lives, and suffer when life tramples us down.
The joy of marriage, and the bitterness of divorce. The wonder of childbirth, and the sorrow of death. New careers and opportunities, and lost jobs and uncertain futures.
We talk, we ramble, we discuss. We rant, we tease, and joke. We debate, we argue, we bicker. Some of our statements are founded in wisdom, knowledge, and experience, others in ignorance, arrogance, and blindness. But we always talk.
We cheer, we agonize, we tease, and we taunt. We are diehards, and casual fans. We are rivals, and cohorts, sometimes proud, sometimes embarrassed.
We sing, we create, we learn, we toil. We listen, we watch, and we analyze. We puzzle, we ask, we answer, and we ignore.
We are students, and teachers, and techs, and lawyers. We eat tacos and cheetos, and drink beer. We diet. We are tall, and short, and fat, and thin. We are slow and fast.
We like movies, and music, and creatures colossal. We write dynasties. We rate women and football draft picks.
We game.
We are like a small town, spread across the states and provinces and nations of the world. We are a band of brothers (and a few sisters), with all the characters of any extended family. Some have said “It’s just a bulletin board, get over it.” Instead, we get into it.
We stand with JAG and whoever else is on the verge of getting married, and say “Congrats!” We look with eagerness for pics from DolphinFan and the other new fathers. And we offer heartfelt words as we grieve with digamma.
We are FOFC.

Isn't there some online shop where you can create t-shirts and coffee mugs with whatever you want and not pay a dime? They charge you a set fee for each item and then you can set the price at whatever you want.
I think it's cafepress.com or something like that. I'm too lazy to check.
