Anybody know where I can find a list of DVDs on their way to market with release dates?
Specifically, I'm looking for some Bogart titles that don't appear to be on DVD yet - mostly "The African Queen," but I'm hopeful that they'll eventually release some of his older stuff, as well.
Anybody got any pointers there?

Looks like there currently aren't any plans for release of "The African Queen"

I can't understand that, frankly. Special editions of Casablanca and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, but not The African Queen?
That makes no sense to me, whatsoever. I hope it's rectified soon.

The African Queen is currently undergoing restoration so it should be on DVD within a year or so.

I hope you're right, Taz. From what I can tell, it's been released in Australia and the UK before, so either we're getting a touch-up that they aren't, or they're just takin' their damned sweet time about it.
On another note, it looks like the Godfather movies are finally getting independent releases on DVD. Or, at least, the first one is.

Mini-threadjack attempt here:
I so rarely do anything with DVD's, I know next to nothing about them, they're just not my thing.
Unfortunately, they are increasingly becoming my 6 y/o son's "thing". We pop in his new "Mary Poppins" DVD this morning & it's like it wants to "stick"; plays fine for 30 secs or so then it freezes on a frame for 2-3 seconds, then slooooowly comes back up to normal speed. I tried several scenes, same result throughout. The disc is clean, no fingerprints or anything, other discs play just fine, no problems there.
And unfortunately for me, the owner's manual for the DVD Player is easily the most useless thing I've ever seen -- it's translated from Korean & appears to have been translated by someone who didn't speak English :( There's quite a bit of UIC in there, so it's no help.
So what should I be doing/trying to do to fix this? Is there some setting for DVD's that'd be like the equivalent to "Tracking" on the old VHS or something? Or is this just a bad disc problem? Or ???
Any help appreciated, gotta keep the kid happy, especially on his 6th birthday.
Thanks in advance,
Jon

Just tell him you can't watch that DVD any more because Mary Poppins died.
Kids love that!

try other dvd's? do they all do this at some point or another.. if so proceed to this
sounds like you should try a dvd cleaning disc.. something to clean the laser.. itself
if that doesn't work then.. the dvd player is probably bad itself

What's the make and model of the player?
Some players are just sensitive to certain discs. It could be a bad disc, in which case it'll be had to find a replacement since the Mary Poppins DVD is out of production because a new version is being released in December I believe.

Sounds like it might be a smudged or scratched DVD too, buy a DVD Dr, its cheaper than a new disk and works on repairing DVDs 99% of the time. Could be handy to have around where kids are bound to smudge up and scratch up their DVDs.
