I am sure the Red Sox are real happy with this interview. I remember a few years ago when Mel Gibson just tore apart "The Million Dollar Hotel" that he was the star of. Now admittedly that movie sucked, but it pisses me off that Mel and this reliever are more than happy to take the money but then won't do the PR that gets the people who paid them the money.

Considering he propably won't pitch in 95.2% of the RedSox innings (9 innings a game, 162 games a year, assuming he pitches 70 innings as the close), I'd say he gets paid a lot of money to watch baseball every year.

This isn't altogether uncommon. I've heard of musicians, for example, that don't listen to any music outside of when they are recording or performing. He seems to less of a "I'm a sports fan, but I find baseball boring" guy, and more of a "I'm not really a sports fan" guy. The article is a bit misleading in that respect, in that it seems to be trying to portray him along side many of baseball's detractors. But I don't see him saying that at all.
