Defensive Player of the Year

Maybe I'm just having a weird career, but on my latest 5.0d game, a linebacker has won defensive player of the year award 19 times within 20 seasons. (The other player was a safety.) No matter how many sacks a lineman has, I've never seen a DE or DT win. Is this just me? I've had a season where a DE got 20.0 sacks and 62 tackles, yet lost out to a OLB w/120 tackles and 8.0 sacks. Just wondering if anyone else has had such a discrepancy in Defensive POY awards.

I've never seen a DE or DT win it. Usually safeties, then linebackers, then cornerbacks.

well, 19 times a winner in 20 years is just...amazing.
Don't know if there's such a flow in the game..or if that players is "that" good lol

Okay....within a time period of 37 seasons, Def. Player of the Year winners are as follows: 35 LBs, two safeties. Guess Bonds isn't the only one taking steroids. :) Anybody else have a situation where LBs dominate this award? I'm not using an alternate player file, so I have no idea what could have precipitated it....
