You've got to hand it to Alou (http://www.suntimes.com/output/baseball/cst-spt-alou05.html)
Moises Alou didn't deny a report on ESPN.com that he occasionally urinates on his hands before games to guard against calluses and harden his hands enough to swing without batting gloves. The Cubs left fielder said he didn't know where he learned the habit.
But Alou was not happy that the item was leaked out, so to speak. He said he told a reporter that story in confidence last week when the Cubs were in Arizona. He asked that it not be used in a public format.
The humiliating anecdote was a great source of amusement to his teammates. Sammy Sosa, in particular, had some teasing remarks about the situation.
''I'm not giving him a high-five ever again,'' Sosa said, jokingly.
Sosa then demonstrated how he would made contact with Alou from now on. He thrust out his forearm to show how he planned to celebrate in the future with Alou -- forearm-to-forearm, not hand-to-hand.

I wonder if this remedy works for hairy palms as well...

Why in the world would you tell a reporter that you urinate on your hands?!?

To throw them off the fact that you keep a gerbil in your ass for good luck.

I don't know if I should be saying this, but urinating on your hands to avoid and help with blisters works. Something about the acid hardens the skin.
Yes, there are other ways to help with blisters, but when you're 100 miles from nowhere you do what you have to do.

I've never used batting gloves in my life nor urinated on myself (intentionally)...maybe Moises should lay off the moisturizer or something!!!

When I was in the Marines I developed a bad blister problem doing pullups in the desert. The Corpsman didn't have any supplies so he told me about the urninating on the hands bit that he learned in field medical training. You learn all kinds of natural 'patch-and-go' remedies in the field.
Alou, however, doesn't really have any excuse since he has easy access to the best meds available and doens't have to resort to 'natural remedies'.

Interesting, however, I was expecting you to tell me that you had heard that from a friend.;)
Tategtr is right. In survival classes, they tell you that if you have nothing to clean a wound out or anyting, you should use urine. It's supposed to be a last ditch thing, not something used by a multimillionaire.

So, if you get shot in the shoulder, you are supposed to get the piss up there?

Trust me, if you take one in the shoulder the last thing on your mind is how to take a leak on it.

Seriously...who in their right mind tells a story like that and expects it to be kept a secret? Clean it up, Alou.
