I was really underwhelemed when Nintendo announced the Nintendo DS. But, looking at it on the webcast, it looks really nice. I'm still skeptical if they can develop a lot for it, but it looks like they're off to a good start with the hardware.

Amazing looking 3-D, perfectly backward compatable, touch screen, voice recognition, local 16 player wireless, and Wi-Fi! Nintendo's not giving up handheld to Sony without a fight.

WOOO! I was hoping for Mario 128. I'll settle for a non-Celda Zelda that looks simply amazing!

Nothing on Ncaa2005?
This is the Nintendo Pre-Show. Other than about 10 seconds in their gaming montage video, they're going to show of their own stuff.

After bashing Nintendo's E3 show for about 3 years, this one really delivered. The Gamecube spot was underwhelming as the marketing guy (I forget his name) did stats for 10 minutes about, *telling* you why you should buy a GC rather than *showing* why. But then, when they showed off the DS... Sony was thinking they could waltz in and take the handheld market much like with the PSX over the N64, using superior hardware. But the DS looks amazing. And to scoop Sony by releasing the DS *before* the PSP when they've been hyping it for so much longer... I'm stunned. Then, to deliver Zelda (and crazy lovable Shiggy coming out with a sword and shield), not CelDa but honest-to-goodness mind blowing 3D Zelda... that saved the Gamecube presentation.

That DS looks awesome. I love the whole Wi-FI concept.

Unfortunately, that's a 2000 mile trip ;)
I'm just watching video online. Plus, this is the pre-show. I don't think the exhibits are viewable for the public yet but I could be wrong.

I am deeply sorry.... I don't know why you were there. Sigh... hopefully Sack will come thru with some good info.

I had really wanted to go this year, too (see minor story in other E3 thread). But school got in the way :(
And, while planned game lists are worth the paper they're printed on, two things really stuck out at me on the DS Third Party game list:
Activision: Spiderman 2
Atari: Project TBA
Bandai: One Piece, other games TBA
Banpresto: Dragon Ball Z
Capcom: Megaman Battle Network, Viewtiful Joe DS, Gyakuten Saiban
Electronic Arts: Need for Speed
From Software Project TBA
Hudson: Bomberman, other projects TBA
Koei: Dynasty Warriors
Konami: Frogger 2005, Yu-Gi-Oh: Nightmare Troubadour
Majesco: Project TBA
Namco: Mr. Driller, TBA RPG
Sega: Project Rub
Square Enix: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Egg Monster Hero, Dragon Quest Monsters
Tecmo: Monster Rancher
THQ: Spongebob Squarepants
Ubisoft: Rayman
Vivendi: Project TBA

The new Zelda looks pretty swank, but I never really saw why everyone complained about Cel Shaded Zelda. I thought it was awesome. One of the coolest looking games I'd played in quite a while.
DS is shaping up to maybe be a decent little system.

(sidles in quietly) Don't under estimate the PSP ..... (exits stage left to bemused glances) Underestimate? Any market Sony decides to set their eyes, they will pose a formidable challenge for anyone already in it. Much like Microsoft. I know a lot of people who have already wrote Nintendo's hardware obituary and I was happy to see they had a worthy challenger next generation. Tho, by the sounds of this, SI might have a game in the works for the PSP...

Is that a hint that we might see a CM for PSP? :)
