I am happy to announce the birth of my son late last night. He weighed in at seven pounds thirteen ounces, with a height, well ok length, of twenty one inches. His name Steven Duncan McClure. We will address him as Duncan. I know it is complicated :). My wonderful wife is doing well, and our four year old daughter is very excited about her little brother. She is a little disappointed that we didn't use the name she had suggested... Yogurt. In any case mother and child are doing well. Daddy is exhausted.

OK, I don't understand why people do this. My girlfriend's family does the same thing to her. Her name is Marisa Amber, but her family calls her Amber while everyone else in the world calls her Marisa.

If you're going to call the kid Duncan why not just make that his first name?

Well as I understand it, and I have been up way too long to explain anything. It sounds better. I warmed up to it when my wife floated the idea of naming him for her brother, who died of leukemia when he was 20. That combination really sounded funky, but sounded nice when reversed. That and I talked to three people I know that answer to their middle name. All of them were actually very happy with the arrangement, and encouraged us to do so. When he grows up and becomes successful, it is inevitable:), he can sign his name S. Duncan McClure.

Congrats. :D

And it's good to see someone naming their kids something normal for once, too. Instead of some weird freaky out there name that has become vogue over the past 10 years.

"We decided to name him SC2, because my wife drives a Saturn SC2. We'll call him Two for short."

Dola,

Oh and the other reason I want to call him Duncan is that my name is Steven. I really didn't want a Junior. Just never wanted to do that. I have also given a couple of friends a good amount of "the business" about naming their sons after them. There are some guys that you just KNOW are going to name their first son after themselves. I really had no interest in doing so.

Strawberry, Vanilla, Frozen, Low-Fat...

I would have taken your daughter's side, aruging that Yogurt was a perfectly good name. Then, you would have been able to get Troy McClure a *lot* easier.

Oh, and congratulations. I hear he looks like Fritz...Oddly enough though the If you trace the McClure line back far enough they are Mac Lures(Had to leave Scotland after backing the king in one of the civil wars), and the Scottish Mac Lures are part of the Mac Leod clan.

So he is actually Duncan McClure, of the Clan Mac Leod.

As for the Fritz comment. Now I really need to figure out a way to post a pic!
