I want to start a new career with Arizona State, but I want to start them out in a lower conference with zero prestige.

When I try to swap them with another team in a lower conference, it doesn't seem to take effect. The change remains evident in the "edit team" page for several seasons, but ASU never swaps with the other team.

Am I doing something wrong?

After you hit End Season, the change should go into effect.

Doesn't work... I'm simming the season without being the coach... should I just take over the team and then do it?

Shouldn't matter.

Well, it's not working. Bear in mind, I'm trying to drop ASU from the Pac-10 all the way down to a "1" prestige conference... should that make a difference?

Again, shouldn't matter. I've done this many, many times. I don't know what the hell is wrong with your FBCB. :)

Are you modifying the current or default league settings?

I don't know what the problem is with my FBCB, either. Somebody ping HR already... I expect the developer to make a house call to fix this for me, pronto.... ;)

Current, as that is what league you are running and simming the games with. If you edit default, it changes the settings around when starting a new career.

I'm not editing the default... I start a new league, and edit current.

Anyhow, I'm gonna re-start the program and try again...

Listen, if you start a new league and switch Arizona State with say Albany, after simming the first season, Az. State should be in the America East by Season Two. This isn't happening??

I'm switching them with Texas Southern (makes more sense, geographically speaking), and simming the first season now... I'll let you know what happens...

F&*$!!!

Still didn't work... Simmed through one season, and ASU is still in the Pac-10.

I'll have to go back and check but I think I know what might cause this. If you have movement off otherwise, I don't think it is processing the conference changes made in the edit current league screen.

I have it set to "Limited Movement."

Other teams are moving around at the end of the simmed seasons... just not the ones I'm trying to move.

Oh, and I was kidding about the whole "I want on-site support from the developer... " thing. ;) But thanks for your help!

heavy, I used to use movement off and move maybe a team or two per season, and it worked fine so that couldn't be a problem. See, I like movement, but even limited movement is too much for my taste (though probably not for anyone elses). :)

Either way I'll do some experimenting to figure out what is going on. Of course, with my luck, I'll do things exactly the same and it will work.

I'm feelin' the love... :D

Nevermind... it's just The Afoci trying to sneak up behind me again...

Ping Heavy - possible bug/feature that I'm too dumb to work out why it's there...

When starting a new career, I decided that the first thing I wanted to do was decide who I wanted to redshirt so went into training and did it... to make the changes save hit "recommend" and then exit. This is before coach hiring phase, tourney scheduling, everything. Literally the first thing I do.

Training comes around, hit recommend again and make changes. Hit training camp... none of my players have improved. At all.

Interesting but annoying, so I start again and try doing exactly the same thing to see if I can repeat it. Seems to happen every time I go into training before the "proper" time and hit recommend.

However, writing this up a thought has just come to me. Is it possible that your players never improve in the first season and I've just been too stupid/inattentive to notice before? I've only ever started like 2 or 3 careers before trying to start a new one last night.

Anyway, just wanted to bring it to your attention - if anyone else can tell me the answer would appreciate it.

Hmmm. I just tried this but I'm getting training whether I do the recommend immediately when I start the game or just before camps. What sort of options are you using when you start the game? Are you using a roster file or anything like that?

Yes, the 2002-03 NCAA real players file from somebody (sorry I forget whose) site.

Also... all default options except limited conference movement on and injuries down to 90.

*Bump*

Just wondering if HR was seeing the same results as I was. I'm still unable to move ASU to a lower conference.

Sorry, I missed the rest of this thread before. Players in the import file won't train the first year. This is because the import file tries to recreate the results from a completed season so the stats would be based on the players abilities as of the first game rather than going into the offseason.

The answer to the original question in the thread is that manual moves were disabled when you had other conference movement on. I added in some code for the next patch that will process the manual moves first and then do any other possible moves.

Awesome... thanks.

I ended up just modding the current league file at the beginning of every season... giving ASU 0 prestige, and dropping the ratings of everyone on the roster so that they were guaranteed to lose. After about 15-20 seasons, they'd been relegated to a "1" prestige conference, and I took over to start re-building.
