...from E3. And boy, are my arms tired. Literally.

awwww we all weep for your pain :p
Since you were there, any word on MGS3 being online? The new PS2 Online commercials show footage of MGS3 which is why I wonder since I haven't heard anything official about it.

Chubby,
The MGS3 booth was packed (as I expected it would be), and the Konami appointment belonged to one of my writers, so I really didn't have much time to spend with it - I missed all of day 3, so I had to cram all 8 of my appointments into two days, which left me with a total of (I think) 8 hours to spend wandering.
Some general thoughts/highlights:
A) I got to spend about 15 minutes fiddling around with EHM: FE (or whatever the blazes it's called these days). It feels very much like a hockey CM, which is at once thrilling and a slight letdown. For example, hockey's free agency (at least, domestically) isn't really much like the Bosman system at all, and yet I saw about a half-dozen players listed as "leaving Thrashers (or the NHL team of your choice)" for various reasons. On the whole, though, I can't wait to get my hands on a final copy.
b) I met Clay Dreslough, aka the creator of Baseball Mogul. Very nice guy, articulate, and definitely has a passion for the sport. He mentioned Jim by name, and is apparently familiar with OOTP Developments, so that was a neat 20 minute conversation.
c) I'm not really sure what to think of Madden. It's got some neat additions, but I picked off two passes in a 90 second span, and threw a pair of uncontested Hail Mary touchdowns on 4th downs. Also, the computer burned all three of its timeouts in the 3rd quarter. The demo was set up for very short quarters, though, so I don't know if that's a factor of the AI saying "here's how much hard time is left," or if that's just poor timeout management. We'll see later on, won't we?
d) Thank God PSP and DS are coming out about six months apart. They're very different devices, but after getting hands-on time with both, I can't imagine buying one and not the other.

I for one am waiting for NCAA much more than Madden this year anyway.
Yeah, I'm not surprised that the Konami booth was packed. I just didn't know if you had heard anything because to my knowledge, they haven't said anything about it being playable online...

Chubby, I didn't see any overt mention of it being online.
That being said, there were a couple of titles that surprised me with online play (or lack thereof) this year, so I wouldn't be totally surprised if it had an online element.
I mean...Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal has an online component. That shocked me.

That's why the tv commercials caught my eye. As far as I know it's not online, I don't even know what they would make playable online BUT there is footage of MGS3 in the new PS2 Online commercials (with the $149 price at the end) so who knows.
Come on, Ratchet and Clank 3 online, DUH :D I'm looking forward to X Men Legends as well, stop by the Marvel booth?

Chubby,
Dude, you read my mind. X-Men Legends is gonna be frickin' AWESOME.
Activision is publishing it, so I got to spend 20 minutes or so with the lead developer on that. The fact that he's familiar with some of my favorite RPGs (and has played them) was VERY encouraging.
That's one of my four "knock my socks off" games of E3 this year. The stuff I thought was good looked really, REALLY good, and X-Men Legends was one of them.
I can't wait for my review copy. :D

Great info Sack! I'm waiting for NCAA 2005 just like Chubby, I'm thinking that's the game to get again this year.
ESPN football does have me excited though... and I hope it's $39 like the rest of their titles lately.
