Ok, I just installed Windows XP (clean install, about two weeks ago), and it was running fine. Then tonight, I start surfing the net, and all of a sudden I'm getting pop-ups like mad (which is weird...I never get pop-ups, and I never got them before when I was on 98 SE). So I go to download Spybot Search and Destroy, and I run it. It finds some stuff, I have it fix the stuff...but it gives me this error:

"This application has failed to start because WDENGINE.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

I've now re-installed Spybot to two different directories about 4 times, and it's still giving me the same error. And the pop-ups are still coming. In the first wave of pop-ups, there was a window that said 'You may have a parasite. Would you like more information?' I just closed the window, thinking it was an ad or something. Now I'm not sure...

If what I just told you to do doesn't work, try uninstalling AIM again then re-installing (this time with Games Support/Wild Tangent).

Then try removing Wild Tangent from Add/Remove Programs.

A few other options as well:

Not too familiar with Spybot, but I wouldn't doubt that there is a sort-of "undo" function.

If you have (Windows) System Restore enabled you might want to go back to a checkpoint from a day or two ago.

Last option would be to manually remove Wild Tangent (complex).

Thanks for the help sovereignstar...seems to have cleared up fine. I just re-installed AIM with the Wildtangent stuff enabled. Then I removed it on my own. No more pop-ups. Thanks man.
