Kevin Youkilis homered for his first major league hit, yet nobody congratulated him when he returned to the dugout.

Bronson Arroyo allowed three hits in eight scoreless innings, Youkilis homered in his second major league at-bat, and the Boston Red Sox beat the Toronto Blue Jays 4-0 on Saturday.

Youkilis, recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket before the game, went 2-for-4 in his major league debut. He hit a towering homer to left field off Pat Hentgen (2-3) in the fourth, giving Boston a 3-0 lead.

Upon returning to the dugout, his teammates acted like nothing happened. Nobody got up to high-five him, so Youkilis high-fived imaginary teammates.

"They gave me the silent treatment after the home run. I guess Pedro put them up to it," said Youkilis, who also singled in the sixth. "It was pretty fun. It's always great when you get that treatment."

He always got that treatment before? How many times does a player get his first HR?

There was a shot in the paper last week of a rookie (I think it was an Angels rookie, maybe Kotchman) carrying a Care Bears minipack or something. Well, i guess I am fuzzy on the details, but it was pretty funny (I think he was taking balls out to the pen).

I heard the name mentioned on the radio this afternoon, but didn't realize it until I saw it here in print...

Kevin Youkilis....this is the guy from Moneyball that Beane was pissed he missed out on...AKA, "The Greek God of Walks", right?

In the current ESPN the magazine Dontrelle Willis said that after the final road series in Houston last season he went to his locker after the game and the only thing in there was a Hooters outfit that he had to wear to the airport and on the flight home.
