Here's the situation - I drafted what should be a stud RT, but I already have a pretty good RT who is a 3-year vet. My hope when I drafted him was that I could change him to a LT with no loss of ratings. My LT is not that good. I checked this after the draft, and there is a small loss (he would retain about 93% of his ratings, according to the scout). I checked the vet, too, and he would retain about 86%. So, what would you recommend? It seems like these are my choices:
1) Change the rookie to LT, and take the loss of ratings.
2) Change the vet to LT, and take the loss of ratings.
3) Don't change do a position change at all, but play one of them at LT.

I'd change the rookie...he's still got prime development time to realize his full potential. The 3-year vet will not only lose ratings (full potential), he'll lose experience (current ability), and he might not gain it back as fast as a rookie would.

change the rookie b/f training camp and u wont lose anything. i change DB's, OL's, WR's, and OLB's all the time.

I don't know about that...it specifically says in the help files that a change from Right to Left tackle is big because of the specialized role of the Left Tackle. You'll probably lose a bit, but not too much.

depends on how close the vet is to free agency.

The vet has two more years on his contract, I think.

I'd change the rookie. Also along the lines of what troll was saying, if you change a players position before training camp I find they lose less potential and current abilities. This only applies for first year players and there is some uncertainty because of the whole blue bar issue.

I would change the rookie's position, unless you plan to get rid of your veteran RT in the next year.

Don't neglect to see what homeboy could do as a guard...
(I'm enthralled with drafting tackles and converting them to guard. Something about the ratings jump is thrilling.)

That makes 2 of us. I don't do it often because it's probably cheating.
Sometimes when you change DT/NT's back and forth or LB's it does the same thing.
