Saw Shrek 2 this afternoon...

After class, a couple of friends and I decided to go see a movie. The only thing playing that we wanted to see was Shrek 2, so we went to watch it.

I have to highly recommend it if you have kids, as it got a lot of laughter from the kids in the audience, and a lot of loud comments after some scenes. :)

The movie also got quite a few laughs from the adults like myself. This was such an entertaining movie from beginning to end. If you don't have kids, you'll still enjoy it.

I don't remember much from the first, so I can't compare them right now. :) But I did like the second a lot.

Very good. I was quite surprised at how well it held up to the first - almost every bit as good.

I took my daughter to see the first one when it came out. Didn't know what I was in for but had a good time. The film has enough gags and visual effects for the kids while also putting jokes in there for the adults. She has the movie at home and sometimes I'll sit down with her and watch it again. Good flick. As soon as we can we will go see Shrek2.

Grilfriend and I saw Shrek2 Friday, it was great, I highly recommend it. (FWIW she didn't care for the first Shrek... but really liked Shrek2; I liked both of them)

I think the people who wrote the script did a great job. They know how to entertain you. The graphics are simply great.

They put a lot of time and energy into this movie and our family and everybody else in the movie theatre seemed to have a great time.

No. Overall, the story was pretty good, and it had some good gags, but I could not get over the fact that whoever wrote the script was so obviously a bully and the key scenes they had in there just ruined it for me. To whit:

- Tying the frog and snake into balloons and letting them float away.

- Blowing up the bluebird.

- Baby Bear and Papa Bear dancing in jubilation at the end of the movie, not too long after losing Mama Bear as a rug.

There was one more, but it's slipping my mind now. Those were so far out compared to the rest of the movie, and not the sort of message I want my kids seeing. I think they forgot to show someone pulling the wings off dragonflies in there.

Just saw it today with my kids, and we all thought it was great! That Donkey cracks me up!!! Almost as funny was Antonio Banderas as the cat....

I thought it was entertaining, but quite a few steps down from the original. It wasn't quite Matrix to Matrix Reloaded in terms of bad sequels, but I thought it was predictable and not nearly as funny as the first.

I thought it was good, but was it just me, or did Shrek (himself) look "washed out?" I liked the advances they made in the graphics department, but some of the effects were too real. I mean, Shrek's skin looked like it was real. That to me was a mistake, since the colors weren't so vibrant this time around. I think that in the future, directors are going to have to decide how much "realism" they want in the movie vs. how "cartoony" they want the movie.

Overall, it was good, not great. I also felt that it was more of a musical than the last movie...which isn't all bad. I'd see it again in the movie theaters.

agreed, although in my book, an "ok" movie isn't something I'll go see in the theaters.

I think I've seen 5 movies in the theaters over the last 3 years, and the LOTR accounts for 3 of them.

I watched Shrek on HBO and was very disappointed. I dont see alot of movies in the theatres(LOTR's, Harry Potter, Van Helsing) because I think the price is ridiculous. People I have talked to echo this thread in that everyone loves it, maybe I missed something. I have seen it twice and just dont get the whole thing......

Nope. Thought the rest of the movie was great, but those scenes just jarred the heck out of me. I remember sitting there in the theater and losing all respect for Shrek and the princess when they pulled the animal balloon trick. "Oh let's show our love for each other by abusing these two poor innocent animals". I thought it was just plain mean. The other scenes were just icing on the cake.

What? They are role models for our children. I alweays dreamed my child would grow up to be an Ogre, and now they have ruined it for me.

Same here. Just saw it yesterday with my daughter. It was good but not, IMO, as good as the first one. Some funny segments in there for sure. Especially the LA cop like chase. :D

Then why go see the movie? The entire storyline was about these two characters. If you don't care about the characters, what is there to care about? I mean, even in an action flick, you at least want a good guy you can root for and a villain you can hate.

It's fine if these scenes didn't hit people the same way, and it's fine if others liked the movie. I didn't, and that's my reason. You don't have to like it or agree with it, but that's how I felt when I watched it.

I had dreams of being a coyote when I was little, but my mom didn't like it when I started playing with anvils and strapping rockets to my back while wearing roller skates and made me stop.

How soon we forget. Looney Toons and various other cartoons were, and probably still are, worse than late night television as far as the sheer volume of on-screen violence. It's just animated so it doesn't seem that bad.

My wife and I love Shrek and thought Shrek 2 was almost as good. They are great anti-Disney flicks that poke fun at a lot of pop-culture. One of those rare films that the kids love but a lot of jokes are for adults.

Finally got around to seeing it tonight.

I can't remember the last time I literally cried laughing during a movie, but this was a bullseye for me. I loved Banderas's character (even though I generally detest both him and cats) and thought the "KNIGHTS" sequence was just comedy gold. I probably laughed out loud twenty times. Great fun.

It was a take on "COPS" - I completely howled when they were using "pepper" (being ground out of a mill, rather than sprayed) to corral the criminal (Shrek).

This movie is grade A, I went to see it with my girl (high on the "awww" factor) and my brother and we all loved it, great, great movie.

I just saw it a couple of days ago with my girlfriend and we both liked it a lot. This is certainly my type of humor unlike most "comedies" out there.
