I don't know how many of you have tried out Sacred, a fairly new RPG, but it's pretty good. It's an RPG along the lines of Diablo - hack n' slash - with an interesting gameworld and just enough story to keep everything tied together. It's not linear and there's a lot to go kill. The gameworld is HUGE - I spent 48 hours in gametime playing a dark elf on bronze level and probably saw about 75% of the world.

The graphics are very good and the character-building is also quite varied. They're still tweaking the game and the character powers. Patch 1.66 is the latest, patch 1.70 will really rebalance the game and is expected in June.

It's been a while (KOTOR) since a RPG really grabbed me and sucked me in for some marathon gaming sessions. Funny that it's the exact opposite of KOTOR, which was linear and story driven - two things Sacred isn't. It's the best Diablo game, well, since the original Diablo in my book.

Again, it still has some balance issues and a few bugs left, but it's got that "just one more quest" feel that all great games have.

Never heard of it. What does it cost?

I've enjoyed Sacred quite a bit, but I'm waiting for 1.70 before I begin a really serious character.

Is it a multiplayer online game? Or just a single-player deal?

I thought this was a thread about a serial killer.

Do you have to pay a fee to play online?

Franklinnoble:

It's both a SP and a MP game. Like Diablo and Diablo II - there's a SP story (I spent 50 hours on it the first time around), but most people seem to be playing MP.

I don't think so. Kind of like BattleNet.

This game has flown under the radar, partly due to the bugs it had upon release. It's stable now and the 1.7 patch should hopefully make MP more stable as well (it's not bad from what I've read), so I highly recommend it if you liked Diablo.

People, stop making me buy games!!!!!

(ps. I finally got KOTOR running on my "new and improved" system last night. Needless to say, I didn't get to bed until 3:30).

Grant, I don't pimp many games. But when we find one that's addictive and is flying under the radar, I think we all tend to pimp them a bit.

I think one of the first ones I ever pimped was RCT - which turned out to be a pretty decent title. :)

Blackie, I read your post and mentioned it to Mrs. Sam. She tried the demo and is buying the game tomorrow. I think it is only fair if you compensate me the $50. Fair?

RCT??

Sure, bill me. :)

Told you it was a good game. At least Mrs. Sam thinks so. :)

RCT = Roller Coast Tycoon

I had that recommended to me when I worked for GamesDomain when we got an advance copy. Bought it and started pimping it immediately.

Nah, this will at least give me many hours where she is ignoring me. I'd pay twice what they ask.
