I'm off tomorrow, so tonight after work I'm taking the kids and heading to the Lake of the Ozarks for the weekend. My dad has a condo, a jetski, and a nice boat. :) I didn't go up much last year because he just bought it and was having everyone up for a weekend... this year is different!!

Party cove should be nice and.... well, boobylicious. :) I think my digital camera is coming with. Ahh.. too bad my wife has to work weekends.

Everyone have a safe and fun weekend!!

(hopefully the DKBL will get going next week)

Just bought a Kayak today for me and my wife. $800 for an Acadia tandem, with 2 life jackets and 2 oars. Good deal or not?

Saturday:

Wedding for former co-worker

Sunday:

Going to take the Kayak for a spin in a local lake (nothing too big to start out with - I'll save the white water for next weekend!!!).

Leaving Saturday midday headed for the in-laws in Tennessee.

On Sunday, we'll be taking the Tennessee Valley Railroad's "Hiwassee River Rail Adventure". (http://www.tvrail.com/)

It's a 26 mile, 2 hour roundtrip rail excursion alongside the Hiwassee River, winding through the Cherokee National Forest along a recently restored portion of the Historic Old Line, built in 1890.

Now ordinarily this might not be "my thing" but ... this particular stretch of rail is one that my father-in-law's grandfather (let's see, that'd be my son's great-great-grandfather) used to drive along as a railroad engineer. And that makes it a part of my son's heritage whether it otherwise floats my boat or not.

It's actually kinda neat IMO -- his great-great-grandfather worked the same rails that we'll ride with 3 generations on Sunday. My f-in-law is pretty much over the moon about the chance to do this with his grandson, my wife is happy to have pulled it together for them, and I'm kinda glad it's working out because I'm the one who thought of it http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/%7Efof/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

Enjoying the beginning of my 10 days of vacation, if I'm not busy packing during them. I will barbeque if the weather cooperates.

My wife bought me a very cool early birthday gift that I get to experience today: flying in a restored World War II T-6 Texan airplane! I get to sit in the front seat, "fly" the plane, hang on for dear life while the pilot does some acrobatics, and get a 30-minute video when it's all said in done. Wahooooooooo!

If you never see me post again, I had to bail out over the Bermuda Triangle.

Just visiting my and Mrs. Sam's families in CNY. Not the most exciting weekend, but its likely to be our last chance to see them all before the baby comes.

This weekend is the biggest party weekend at Northwestern. Yes, we're still in school because of the quarter system. Anyway, the Saturday before Memorial Day is "Dillo Day" short for Armadillo Day, named by some Texans to honor their Texas heritage. This has evolved over the years from just a drinking celebration to a drinking celebration with music. This year the Whalers are the main act. Anyway, I'm not sure exactly what to expect because I'm just a freshman, but apparently its drinking from sunup until way past sundown. This is the weekend that Northwestern "pretends its a public school." Anyway, I'm looking forward to it.

We are having a barbeque saturday, then driving down to SD for the night to stay at a hotel and go out for the night. Then sunday we are gonna chill, probably do a ton of surfing, then drive up to newport beach and go out again sunday night. we'll get up early monday and surf again, then hangout that night because i dont' have to be back at work until Tues. at 4pm ;)

Yeesh, I don't have it nearly that bad. Just worked from 6-1130 tonight, 6-9 tomorrow, 4-1030 Sunday, and 4-1030 Monday. What's that, a grand total of 21.5 hours?

Never realized that the liquor biz was so grueling, MC...
