Hi all,
I have a little desk radio I like to listen to at work.
When I put it on an AM station (to listen to Jim Rome), it makes a high-pitched humming noise. Not unbearable, not pleasant, either.
Anybody have any idea what this is/how to get rid of it?
On FM stations it works perfectly.

Move it further away from your PC and/or monitor.

I dont know for sure what it is, but dont alot of AM stations do that? Especially around other electrical appliances, some thing with the signals or some sort.

How high up is your office?
I'm on the 40th floor of my building and can rarely get an AM station without a hum.

try moving, hanging, rearanging the cord and see if the signal comes in any clearer.

Did you just say Jim Rome's station makes a high pitched, unbearable, not pleasant humming noise?
Simple: turn it off Rome.

Thanks all for the advice. I'm not sure exactly what's causing it, because I tried turning the computer off and it still doesn't go away.
However, when I brought it into the hallway outside the office, it disappeared. So I guess the lights/wiring in general causes trouble.
Not a big problem - I'll deal.
Again, thanks all for the advice.

When my girlfriend puts her cell phone next to my clock radio the phone starts making weird clicking and buzzing noises...
Electronic interference is weird stuff...

Flourescent lights are AM signal killers. As can be just about any other electric / electronic devices including: computers, televisions, telephones, microwave ovens, vacuum cleaners, and pretty much anything else that you plug in.
