I hadn't seen it mentioned on here, but I've been waiting a long time for this. It starts tonight on ESPN at 9. Anybody else watching?
Of course. Im excited about it. 2 hours each Tuesday night I believe. It will be about a month of coverage of preliminary events before it gets to the main event, though. Tonight I think starts with the $3000 NL HE event. Might be another one after that, too. Ive got the schedule bookmarked but man am I a lazy bastard sometimes.

So tonight is not the 10,000 NL Hold 'em but a smaller No Limit tournament? I saw at 10 PM is 7 card stud.

I went and grabbed the schedule. I didn't realize it was running all the way up until September. This is going to be awesome.

I had no idea they were covering multiple events this year -- cool.

This is where the TiVo Season's Pass earns its money...
Being able to watch these episodes later and fast forward through the commercials, coupled with not having to manually record them?
Thank you God for giving man cunning and wisdom.

Seriously, when will poker get its on thread? Why am I being forced to read all this about poker anyway? BTW, I will be glued to the TV as well. :D

While I'll definitely be watching, I think its a little shady how, during the massive promotions ESPN has been doing recently, they have made no mention of the fact that the main event will not be aired tonight (and not even for weeks). I'm guessing there will be a large group of people tuning in who are going to be dissapointed.
Also, is it really necessary to have a big picture of the winner of the tourney on the main page of ESPN.com? I know who wins, and they don't actually label it, "XXXX, 2004 WSOP Champion" but considering he's sitting there with a huge stack of money, it's not hard to add everything together. If I was making an effort to not find out who won, I'd be pissed.
a major blunder on their part, id bet

How many WSOP are there? I see it almost every day on ESNP or ESPN2.

I guess it's just me, but I'd love it if they covered all 33 events, not a dozen small ones and then the main event. Regardless, I thought it would just be the main event, and am thrilled they are actually covering the smaller events. Lately, I've become a huge fan of 7-Card Stud. I like it more then Hold 'em. I'm happy to see that they'll be two episodes devoted to it.
I dont think coverage of Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo would go over very well :)
Can you imagine the intro primer on how to play THAT? haha I can see some of the people I know that have gotten casually interested in this poker on tv stuff going WTF?!

Who do you think will win this year? Will it be another newbie like Moneymaker, or a veteran?

this is a serious question, right?
The event was already played in May. Those of us who know the answer are avoding ruining it for others...

I can't claim I am a poker expert but I would think that all in with the pair of 4's was a bit questionable....

Not heads up it's not. Drawing a pocket pair when only two people are in is a great hand...it was unfortunate (at the time) that Vogl ALSO had a pocket pair.

General rule, pocket pairs go up in value when there are fewer players at the table.

I knew they went up in value but with the raise in front of him (if i remember correctly) I just thought since he had the chip lead why take that risk at that particular time...

Well, he wanted to pick up that 100 grand bet without even getting to the flop. He likely put Vogel on high cards and assumed he would fold to his all-in.
I don't question that move at all heads up.
