Yeah, real funny. Try reading some history before you dump on the French, dumb ass. Maybe something about the French Resistance or something. They sure were a bunch of surrender monkeys, let me tell you.

Interesting. There's been plenty of talk back and forth about Farenheit 9/11 on this board - mostly reasonably civil.
Then one guy from France makes a post and all of a sudden it's open season.
So nice to be able to come to a community where everyone has a right to be heard.
Unless they're from France.
Bad form, SkyDog.

Ah yes, that famous liberal tolerance -- anybody can say whatever they want ... unless they're critical of a liberal darling.
AFAIC, anybody here, including those from France, is welcome to say what they like on whatever subject they choose ... and those who are so inclined are welcome to indicate the scorn that the recent actions of the French government have earned them.

And why was the French Resistance necessary exactly?
Lord, how sensitive are you? It's bad joke. Let it go. No one really believes that France is any more likely to surrender than any other major industrial power in this day and age.

Its a damn funny graphic, and frankly, if having your nation insulted really pisses you off, join the military and defend it. Whining about someone's comments about it is about as useful as paying attention to something "Dubya" has to say.

I think darkiller and his past have offended people. This not just a random posting. Anyone with a history here can tell you that. I remember DK saying something along the lines of he was leaving because he was to offended (at the time there was some heavy France bashing.)
If DK leaves this time around, I put dibs on his IHOF team. :)

I think I would have maybe gone with a Napoleon reference here. Although technically even he surrendered twice. :o

So then where are all the other liberals also jumping to France's defense and attacking SD for his funny pic? Dollars to donughts considering the guy is from LA he isn't even liberal.

nah i'm not offended. Past is the past and there were things that I wanted to say at that time that I didn't express properly, which led to the bashing.
Farhenheit 9/11 is a good movie to see because I think (I hope) it puts a little perspective to everyone, including all the Americans who were fooled by their goverment when it said to them "IRAK has nuclear weapons and is a threat to us so we have to go there" (among other things) and as it turned out, the americans discovered a year later that they were lied to and that there is nothing such as "mass destruction weapons" to be found there. In the meantime, US Soldiers are dying in Irak...
Farhenheit just shows how propaganda doesn't do a country any favor. US TV networks are very much responsible for that mis-information, that has now finally been uncovered.
As for IHOF : don't be on the Musketeers having another owner any time soon :)

I'm curious as to why you'd think that the TV networks are responsible for propaganda here. The US government, to the highest levels, was claiming that Iraq had WMDs. Shouldn't the news media have reported that? I'm not sure what else they would have been expected to do... especially given that there was close to world-wide consensus on the subject, and it would have been near impossible for any reporter to independently verify the claims.
I suppose you could argue that they took too long to report to the truth of the situation (post-war), but I'm not sure how you can fault them in the leadup to the war.

Uh, Farhenheit IS propaganda.
Once I find the title of the book, I'll post you a link. It's a list of all the dirty deals that the French and German goverments have made with terrorists and rogue countries who support terrorism. Let us know if you're as quick to believe something against your own country as you are to believe something agaist the US.
SkyDog, when will you learn to not post bmp over the net... use a converter and make them jpg or png files... Same quality, less (much, much less) data size...
And why are you stealing Darkiller sig ;)

This board is going downhill when someone here is offended by that picture. Seriously, it was a fucking joke, get over it.
P.S. - I'm offended by the term "Surrender Monkey".

I was actually offended by the term dumb ass. I mean, whats it like to be an ass bigot? I mean do you ostracize someone cause they have a big ass? small ass? plump ass? or better yet, do we provide priveledges to those who are or have a smart ass or a fine ass?

07-12-2004, 07:47 PM
Serious question: Who is the official FOFC arbiter on which jokes are "okay" and which ones are not? I mean, every situation has at least one person who finds humor in it, and I've seen people reprimanded for posting something that they thought was funny. Is the original joke in this thread okay because it's popular with so many people here? I'm not trying to carry a torch or anything, and I don't care one way or the other what jokes are posted here. I'm just asking to get an understanding of things. I like studying people, I guess.

Yay! In that case, all jokes are fine. Just remember that if there are no pictures in the original post, someone must say "hey man pics plz tks" or "hey man pics plz thx" within the first 10 replies. Now get on it, horsies.

Seems idiotic now, but at the time Napoleon was desperate for cash to fund his war in Europe and had no plans for the territory anyway. Dominating Europe was all he cared about, so this was really a win-win deal at the time (plus it helped us stick our thumb in the eye of our mutual enemy of the time, England). BTW, I am not the least bit offended by the graphic. Those of you who are, lighten up.
