I'm not sure if copyright would prevent me from posting the whole article, but particularly in light of Senator's new dynasty about his brother I thought the latest Sporting News (actually it is the June 7th edition - I'm catching up on my magazine reading) had a very interesting article about a South Carolina walkon. Here is a summary of the highlights:
Tim Frisby walked onto South Carolina's team this spring. He is a long shot to make the team. However, he has quite a bit of experience. Just not as a football player: He is 6'1 188lbs and he has kept himself in shape, having served many years in the Airborne Rangers. He fought in the first Gulf War and the conflict in Kosovo. He has served in active duty for over 19 years. He is now trying to return to the sport he loved in H.S. football. He is 39 years old. He has a 3.8 GPA at South Carolina and hopes to work in television in the future.
I find the article interesting and this guy's story absolutely fascinating.
