I was wondering if any of the many poker players here would be interested in participating in a heads up singlie elimination poker tournament. I'd like to play for real money, but it doesn't need to be significant. We could say each match is a $10 buy-in or something along those lines.
The initial bracket would just be set at random and we would play heads up matches (limit or no-limit are fine with me). I currently only have an account on Party, but could possibly be convinced to put some money in Poker Stars etc if that is where the majority of people wanted to play. Any interest in something like this? I imagine we could try and set each round to be played within a week's time that way we shouldn't have too many problems with scheduling conflicts.

I'll be in
I'd be in but would vote for a much lower buy-in. I think stars has 2c/4c heads up tables.

I don't really have a problem with that, but I thought it might be nice to make the money at least a little significant. If we had a $10 buy in for each match no one could lose more than $10 for the entire tournament. The people who lose in the first round would be out their $10 and everyone else would be then playing off of won money.
Again if everyone wants a lower buy in though I think that is fine.

they have private tourneys at pokerstars, i wonder if you can set up a heads-up tourney?

That would be nice because of the increasing blinds, but even if we can't just a private table with resonable blinds to the buy in should be fine.
Are people more interested in limit or no-limit?
I'll play either, but I don't have much money in at Poker Stars (working my bankroll up from a gift of $1) and a $10 hit would be significant to me.

I would be interested if the timing is right.

it would probably just be easier if I sent you my $10 directly.

I think the first thing to do is to agree on a site. Is pokerstars ok with everyone?

I'm down. Stars is my preferred site. Also, private tourneys at stars have a minimum requirement of 3 players (by my last check), and the buy-in is at least $10+1.

Stars is fone with me as well. Although it will take me a couple of days to get an account setup.
ABC,
Does Stars allow private NL ring games?

Dola,
I have updated the initial post with a list of the people interested so far.

I'm interested, NL or limit. If we setup a private tourney (assuming they allow heads up tourneys) it'll be a shootout tournament, a single eliminatino style that will all occur at once, so we can't stretch it out over weeks.
But the only other reliable alternative would be to play in a heads up ring game for all the money, if we wanted to let people play on their own timetable, but the blinds not increasing would be a bit weird. And if it was $10 buyin then it'd just be for $10 each, not a $1500 in chips tourney deal.
I am ok with either of those setups, but I think those are the only realistic ways to work it.

If it's possible, a private heads-up tourney is definitely the best option. And that would pretty much have to be no-limit to keep it from taking all day.

I tried to deposit into a pokerstars account, but it wouldn't accept my credit cards because they have policies against online gambling. Did you guys use Neteller? I'd love to play, but I don't feel completely comfortable using my check card or giving my bank account info to Neteller with whom I'm not real familiar.

I've used neteller for about 15 months now with no problems whatsoever
I'm up for this, although my heads-up skills are lacking......

I'm in as well. But I don't like Internet heads up, since getting a read on someone is a huge factor in heads up.
That being said, I have my FOFC poker crown to uphold :D
