Thought I'd throw out the possibility of an ATL FOFC/IHOF venture. Perhaps next week sometime, maybe Thursday or Friday to give people time to plan. I'm thinking something after work, since that would be more convenient for most. Depending on who is interested, maybe something downtown-ish so that GDawg and Kwhit might make it in, or perhaps on the north end around Perimeter Mall since that is somewhat central to the west, east and north.
SkyDog has already vetoed The Varsity (which is probably a good thing).
Thoughts?

Don't worry, it was nominated by a Tech graduate. You would think Tech grads would be smart enough to stay away from there!

Why don't we make a forum for Atlanta people? They seem to think they are the "Elite's" in this group anyhow, since they have Skydog as a Mod. :p

Count me in...anything midtown or more northern is good for me. Of course, all of you could make the trek out to Powder Springs and we could play poker/throw darts/laugh at Chubby, but I think Buzzbee is the only one who is within 20 miles of where I live :)

I'd love to, but I don't think I'll be able to swing it (regardless of the date and time), it's so difficult with my wife's work schedule and the kids. But I'll see what I can do.

Since I'm close, I'm obviously game, but will defer to the will of the group. Perhaps we can revive the idea of the last "ATL poker night". Everybody bring some meat and we'll have a little cookout (if VPI has a grill and doesn't mind me making the invite).
I do have to warn you though, I suck at poker. I avoid the Texas hold 'em threads that have sprouted like they are the plague. It'd be like taking a turkey leg from a baby. Of course, that might entice some of you to come.

I'm no expert, either (shoot I haven't played in 14 years, and have never played Hold Em). As long as we keep the money light, it would be fun.

Dang. Friday is the only night next week that might be a problem for me. Monday-Thursday would all be fine. We're leaving for vacation some time next weekend, but I'm not sure if that is happening Friday after work, Saturday, or even Sunday. I *think* we're not leaving until Saturday afternoon, in which case I'd be fine. I've put in a call to SWMBO to get the details...

Chubby is a fellow FOFC poster, and team owner in the IHOF (International House of Football, a Front Office Football 2004 multiplayer league). He is the type of person that people often love to hate. The throwing darts at Chubby was just a little friendly dig at him.

One thing, for KWhit and Celeval mainly. I'd like to know if Powder Springs is too far for y'all. (I ask Celeval because it sounds like he'd have to leave early.) Although I wouldn't prefer it, we CAN do it at my house if it would mean that KWhit and Celeval could attend, if they weren't up for the drive out to Power Springs. I say I'd prefer not because we're in the process of taking down wallpaper and then painting a room, but we CAN if it would make a difference. Otherwise, I'm fine with going out to VPI's.

Powder Springs is a haul for me, but don't change anything on my account. I am very iffy on this anyway. It will all depend on how my son's (and therefore my wife's) night goes on the night before this. So if she has a good night and gets some sleep, I'll be able to come out and play with ya'll. Hmmm...if Kwhit isn't able to make it, then it just might be the Techs vs. the Dogs.
I'd say we plan without Kwhit and if he can make it then it will be gravy. Since poker would result in only 4 of us, why not plan on dinner somewhere. Not sure where Celeval is based (dunwoody or thereabouts, IIRC). Since it would be after work VPI and I would be coming from the north side and SD and Kwhit from the east (and GrantDawg from the far east). In looking at a map, it looks like around SD would be the most central.
Any dining establishments around your way SD that might work? Or if Alpharetta to DeKalb is too much of a haul, maybe ESPN zone downtown?

G-Dawg, you oughta know there's no such thing as *anywhere* with decent food that is going to be quiet on a Friday night in the A-T-L. If we're leaning toward the Spaghetti Junction-to-Dunwoody corridor, and looking for somewhere to actually hang out and visit and not feel like we need to give up our table, then we probably ought to use Chez Lewis, and go back to the bring-your-own-meat idea. All of the decent restaurants from Tucker to Downtown/Midtown to Dunwoody are going to be packed out on a Friday night.

So....are others up for that? If so, I had an additional idea. Anyone who can come over a little early can check out the tail end of Tucker's practice with me. My house is very close to the school, and I'd like to be there that day anyway, since I'll be gone for all of the next week. Might be fun for those who have been reading the dynasty thread. BTW, Thomas Davis turns into a pretty solid runningback in NCAA 2005.None really in the Senior class. B.Y. has flat-out said that while he's friends with Thomas and he likes the Dawgs, he's already spent three years as his understudy, and would rather not do that again. Can't really blame him for that. He's the best prospect in this class, and he's committed to Maryland. The only other Senior getting D-1 attention at this point is Tavares Kearney (http://www.royalflushcrew.com/Tavares.htm). Tavares will be recruited as an athlete, in all likelihood. Depending on what the Tucker coaches perceive the biggest needs are, he could play virtually anywhere on the field, from defensive line to CB, but I'm sure they'll also showcase him at whatever position(s) colleges might want him to play. I know Tavares has an offer from Clemson, and I think from Tech as well.
Now, there's yet another D-1 tailback in the Junior class, though. Asher Allen might even push B.Y. for playing time this year. I doubt he's ruled anything out at this point.

Sounds good. What time should I be there. Also, are we still grilling and should we all bring meat (and imagine snacks too)?Call me this evening after church, and we'll figure out time, etc.

Skydog and I will be riding together, so either or both. :)
Other questions: Are we grilling? Do we need to bring meat and snacks and how much?
We can eat somewhere out there if you prefer, but if we need to bring food let us know.

Other questions: Are we grilling? Do we need to bring meat and snacks and how much?I'm all set up for grilling. Bring any preferred meat or drink. I'll have standard soft drinks, beer, chips, etc, so if you want something special, bring it along. I also have a freezer full of meat (I'm about halfway through a 150 pound purchase from last November) that can be used as backup.

How did this go? Sorry I couldn't make it. We were in crisis mode at work Friday, so I worked until almost 10:00. Then I went home and changed diapers all night.

Went great. We had a good time, but we copped out of playing poker. Ended up just beating VPI and Buzzbee in spades instead. :)
We need to do this again sometime.

Sounded like it was fun! Sorry I couldn't make it! Maybe next time have a Madden or NCAA tourney at someone's house. I'm sure that'd get people to come out ;).

I had a great time. It was good to put names with faces and to sit around and chew the fat. I look forward to getting together again sometime.

Well, she shouldn't have tucked it in SkyDog's undies. She should KNOW she wouldn't get it back. Well, not clean anyway. Ewwww.

I mentioned that to VPI yesterday. I had mentioned going to a high school football game Friday, and when that fell through I mentioned that it was about time to have another ATL get together.
Any good football games coming up? Perhaps we could have a little cookout and watch some football.

Look at the brain on Mark! (At least I think that's the line).
You have a good memory. Yes, I did get some chips. Slightly different than the ones I was looking at, but they're pretty cool - clay composite.
I'm jonesin' for a game.

Can you believe I drive 50 miles to work each day. EACH WAY!
I'm so freaking stupid for living out there.
But seriously, party at my house!
