Poker in the Olympics

Unless I was dreaming I just heard a commercial trying to endorse getting poker as an olympic sport. There was a website on the commercial, I'll see if I can track it down and post it.

Yeah it's a publicity stunt more than a serious effort I would guess. It's being pushed by fulltilt.com a newish poker site that is backed by a lot of name pros (Ivey, Lederer). The general theory is they're just trying to get their name out there.

I heard the same commercial yesterday. Maybe ESPN ought to run with the idea - ESPN's TABLE X Games! Bridge, Rummy, Poker, Chess, etc. They could do human interest stories about the youngest competitor, a 3 year old whiz at Old Maid. Sounds like a winner to me.

I would love this idea. Also we should take out the decathalon, Boxing and all other events of human speed and stamina and replace it with..................................................................................bowling.

I was flipping channels a few weeks ago and came across a bowling tournament one Saturday afternoon. I haven't seen bowling on TV in years, and it was pretty funny (and transparent) to see what they've done to turn that into a more "spectator-friendly" competition. The WWF-inspired introductions, the screaming fans, the attempts to give some personality to the competitors...all of it almost made me forget it was BOWLING.
