OT: OOTP6 Game Play- Comparison?

I've been intrigued by this series for a long time but have never bought it. I have a long history with Diamond Mind Baseball (starting when it was PTP2) and really enjoyed the game by game play of that system. What I've always wanted was an aging algorithm in DMB... but, alas that is not to be. So, my question is how does the in-Game play of OOTP compare with that of DMB? Further, I'm not *real* interested in setting the concession stand prices or those types of things... but am interested in developing farm systems, player movements, developments, etc. I'm sure other threads have talked about this... but I was not successful in finding them. So if anyone has them saved, or would like to give me their opinion, it would be appreciated.

The in game experience isn't as precise, but the development and aging aspect is pretty well done and is a lot of fun. It's also less expensive then Diamond Mind....

DMB is better than OOTP at:
In game play (but not by a mile, maybe be a few body lengths)
Setting depth charts
Schedule making
Historical accuracy
Era settings
Creating individual players
Fielding ratings

OOTP is better than DMB at:
Minor leagues (it actually has them)
Anything and everything to do with roster management
Anything and everything to do with team financials
Free agent drafts of rookies (which DMB does not have at all)
Random career progression
Ratings and progression for scouts, coaches, and managers
Fog of war concept created by using scout perceptions of players
Customizeable beyond your wildest dreams
Game add-ons that aneager OOTP community builds to greatly enhance the experience
Free historical databases
And the biggest thing, it is totally unpredictable

Arghh.. I had a big writeup, but all is lost! Thanks dialup, I can't believe people use dialup still. :) I'm at the lake this weekend.

Anyhow, try the demo, you'll love it. I'm a DMB convert, due to no career options and I haven't looked back. This year's version is hands down a HUGE improvement in the series.. and quite challenging to boot.

As most people would when converting from a game they've played forever, you'll feel overwhelmed from the differences. Eventually you'll be amazed and love it.

I've played DMB for years and while it is a quite accurate game and is good for certain types of play, etc....OOTP while not perfect is very customizable and has many strengths already listed in this thread. I'd recommend it if for nothingelse but as a change of pace to what you are used to. If you like stats, you'll like it.
