Hello All,
I am very interested in purchasing FOF 2004; however I don’t really want to get it if indeed FOF 2005 is coming out anytime soon. Does anyone know or has there been any talk of FOF 2005 coming out and if so what was the proposed time frame for release?
Thank you all in advance for all the help, please feel free to contact me privately at
[email protected] with your thoughts on weather or not to buy or wait awhile longer.

Well, no one can say for sure, since Jim Gindin (the developer) never gives any kind of release schedule or plans. The most often thought plan is that there will not be a pro game released this year, instead possibly a follow on to The College Years.
But it's all conjecture at this point. If you liked the demo, I'd go ahead and get FOF 2004.

Ditto cartman.
I don't think there will be a FOF 2005. More likely a TCY 2.

I would agree with the comments that have already been made. Jim usually announces his next game a month or so before it is going to be released. The conventional wisdom is that it will either be TCY2 or another sport, and that the next FOF incarnation won't come out until late summer/early Fall 2005 at the earliest.
Bottom line: while no one around here has any "official" knowledge, FOF2K4 is a wise purchase at this point.

My bets are on TCY2, but I'm hoping for pro basketball.

Although I agree with everyone else that a new version of FOF this year is extremely unlikely, I sure wish he would put out a final "patch" that fixes whatever minor bugs remain and, more importantly, contains an updated roster file. I know some people have tried to make a new player file, but there's nothing better than getting it straight from the source.

Considering how braindead most NBA GMs are when they trade for and sign overpaid players, I think that Jim's AI would be unrealisticly strong in a pro b-ball game.

well, I only care about football text-sims basically, so if Jim's new game is another sport, I would give it a look but would be unlikely to purchase it no matter how good it is.
I love every sports and "play" a lot of sports games..but for text-based simulations : football is the only matter that has me sucked.

He did until after TCY....
In a way I hope Jim goes with something different (like the political sim he's mentioned in the past). TCY2 would be ok though.

He did until after TCY.......and I can't imagine why he changed that policy after TCY. :p

He did until after TCY....
And that's why we have the Blizzard-type policy of "it's done when it's done".
