one time, in my wilder days, my buddy and I had a nice bottle of tequila, but forgot the lemon and salt. we went to the local 7-11 type store, but the best we could do was lemonade and salt & vinegar chips. that was an interesting evening.

another time, we bought some rolling rock beer to complement our tequila (this time with proper accessories). the problem was, the rolling rock (aka suck my cock) beer was NASTY, and I ended up using the tequila to chase the beer. I had 8 quick shots, and it was pretty much lights out for me - woke up around 3 the next day.

Actually, unless it comes from the correct region in Mexico, it can't be called tequila. Kinda like champagne can only be called that if it comes from a certain region in France.

At one point in Santa Barbara, one of my friends and I were at one of our friends parties, and my friend had just been screwed over by a girl. Well, that night he decided he was going to get flat out drunk, and he filled an entire styrofoam cup full of tequila and went for it. Probably about 5 or 6 shots worth in one cup. Well, he drank a few of these, and he was so hammered, and his breath smelt of tequila so much, I just had to leave the party because I was getting sick smelling all that tequila. Good times in Santa Barbara! Oh yeah, I'll give you guys one guess who this friend was, he just happens to be a member here at FOFC ;)

Another funny true story about tequila. The owner of my company is a multi-multi millionaire (multiple hundreds). He's building a huge house in Atherton, CA, which is one of the most exclusive addresses in the country. He overheard some of his workers talking about a great tequila, and how they would really like to be able to get some. So to be nice, he told his pilot to fly the jet down to Mexico, and pick up a case of this tequila for each of his workers. So the guy takes off, and comes back later that night with 20 cases of the tequila.

So the boss gives the tequila to the guys to see their reaction. The were very thankful, and the guys told my boss that he saved them several trips to Beverages and More to buy this tequila. He said you could have knocked him over with a feather when they guys told him the tequila could be bought locally.

And he said in his own words: "Sometimes I have a lot more money than sense" :D

Seeing how you are one of the young'uns of the group, let us pollute your mind a little.

There's a little ritual to using lime and salt (aka training wheels) when drinking tequila. You pour a little salt onto your wrist (or between a hot chick's boobs, your call) and lick the salt. Then you slam the shot of tequila, and then suck on a wedge of lime. Rinse and repeat as necessary.

Jeebs, I do know a bit about wine. I dont drink it so much, but my major is Hospitality and Restuarant Management. I've taken the Wine and Spirits Class and Wines of the World, taught by two of the people who run the LA County wine fair, one of the biggest wine competitions in the US. My advisor happens to be one of the judges who graduated from Cornell with an emphasis in Wine. I've been to a few wineries including some famous, but not so great tasting wineries and such. Notables including Firestone (bleh) and Callway (eh). We;ve had visits with some of the leading US wine experts, people like Daryl Corti amoung others whose names I've long forgotten.

So, I know a little bit. :D

Eh, it's more hit or miss with me. I started with the easy stuff, like Muscato di Asti, but that's just a desert wine. It went to Chardonnay and that's still alright. Depending on the Chianti (ok, my spelling sucks) I like that. Merlot is a pretty safe bet, but nothing has ever stood out. Don't like Shiraz/Syrah or Pinot Noir too much. Meritage is pretty good actually so I'd stay with that. Kinda anti-climatic though. All of that wine spent on me and I pick a California rip-off.

Not a fan of tequila, mostly because of one miserable night.

After already moving along toward moderate inebriation with the help of beer or other liquors (I forget which), I proceeded to enjoy a fraternity party with a bottle of tequila in one hand, and a styrofoam glass of ice in the other. Was the tequila Cuervo? No. Patron? No. Don Julio? Tres Generaciones? Anything quality whatsoever? No, no, and no.

It was "tequila", white label. That's right, bottom of the barrel, super cheap, available at any store, grocery or liquor. And I drank of it all...with no help from anything to take away the taste except whatever water melted off the ice.

I don't remember much of the rest of that night, but I remember the next morning...and the taste in my mouth as well. Ugh...

I only take tequila in margaritas now, if I can help it. ;)

Tequila is pure evil in a bottle. It literally sends me into a maniacal rage. The only time I have ever hurt someone has been after drinking that trash. No idea why it affects me like that, since I can handle large quantities of any other type of alchohol without getting more than nicely buzzed.
