View Full Version : In Las Vegas - My sports bets...

So..I'm in LV and lost $400 playing blackjack last night. Yeehah. So...to slow my losses, I decided not to play the table games tonight and decided to give the sports book a try. Here are my bets...
Straight-up bets:
Cardinals over Cincinnatti - giving the Reds 1.5 runs
$10 to win $11
Cubs and Brewers
6.5 runs is the over under, I took the over
$10 to win $8.50
And...my BIG parlay...
Astros over the D-backs
Yankees over the Jays
Royals vs. Indians, taking the over (9.5 runs)
$20 to win $88.70
So...the Yankees are LOSING in the 7th. I HATE the Yankees, and it looks like they may cost me $68.70. Yet another reason to hate the Yanks. Sigh.

Before I left town this summer I put 5 dollar bets on the Texans and Lions to win the Super Bowl. They were the two long-shot teams I could somehow see "putting it all together."

I got all those sheets today - the "futures" they call it.
I'm a big Maryland fan and Maryland is a 9/1 to win the BCS championship this year (10th overall). Maryland basketball is 12 to 1 to win next years college basketball championship (9th overall, but 5th in the ACC).
If anyone wants me to post over/unders for NFL wins, odds of winning the CB football, basketball or Superbowl, let me know as I have them right here (and am wondering if there are "good bets").
The Dolphins are at 9 wins - perhaps they're a good under bet (paying +110) since Williams retired?

I'm also thinking Bengals over as well as the Panthers.
BTW, the Yankees pulled it out and the Cubs scored some runs in the 9th, so I won all my bets - I'm like the new Jimmy the Greek. $40 invested, win $88. If only I had bet my life savings on these games. Sigh.

THe Bengals have a brutal schedule and Carson Palmer at QB - IMHO over is not a wise bet there. In fact I (personally) would take the under if I could get a solid 8 somewhere.

Hmm...that's true. Without Jon Kitna, they may be in for a world of hurt. In order for Kitna to take over, it would take a string of losses, implying they wouldn't be able to match their 7.5 win prediction. Basically, you have to ask yourself whether Palmer can lead them to 7.5 wins. Will be interesting to see how they perform in the exhbition season and make one's prediction accordingly.

Is there a line on who will end up with the best record in conference play? i.e the Big East?
I was just checking out the lines on some online sites. The Panthers are listed at 9, as are the Dolphins... but they're no longer taking bets on the Dolphins, that bet is "closed." I wonder what the new line will be when/if it opens.

My guess is that it will be closed for a while.

My guess is the Dolphins re-opens at 61/2 or 7.
