Just so excited, and no one else is awake to tell... so you guys have to hear it. Just played in 1000 person WSOP Qualifiying Tournament for entry into WSOP Seat Tournament on Absolute Poker on Thurs. night (it will be the first time a seat to the main event is given away on AP). I know its just a satellite into another tourney (and if you win then its once again entry into another tourney :) ), but I was very happy when I came in 2nd out of 1000. Top 5 got spaces in the big tourney. Also I'm curious to see if anyone else plans on playing in this tourney? You can buy-in as well, I believe its around $20.

I think it's a 15+1, tomorrow at 10PM Eastern time.

There is about a 50/50 chance I'll play in it.

The odds of me even getting close to the final table are slim, but I need the occassional no limit tournament as a break from my usual limit play anyway.

I don't really like the software, but it's not terrible. Still, I only have a few bucks in my account for the occasional tournamnet, I do not play their regularly at all.

I think PokerStars/UB both have arguments for having the best software, but PartyPoker still has the best games (easily).

Well, PokerStars speed is also what holds it back IMHO. I just find it frustratingly slow for regular play.

I agree. The game windows are simply too large as well. I'm sure it's partially out of habit, but I find PartyPoker's games to be the ideal for me, small enough windows that I can easily multi-table(no way in hell I could on pokerstars), and gameplay flows much more smoothly than Stars. I still love Stars tourneys, but that is it.

Im not sure what you mean about poker stars software being slow either. It seems like the fastest one to me. I definitely dont know how to react to someone saying Party has the best software! I dont think I could disagree more.

Stars' software is just slow, and there isn't nearly as much money to be made as there is at Party. That's the reason I almost *never* play at PokerStars.

I have no interest in signing up for Neteller or the like and giving access to my bank account despite people claiming they're trustworthy. So, my question is: Do any of these other sites have other options that would allow me to play or would there be reason to believe that my credit cards would work with them? Or am I SOL?

If you wanted to try Party.... they have an option where you buy a calling card and then trade the PIN number in for an equal amount of $. That's one way around the CC problem....

Just a note to those who have said AP is extremely slow: Try re-installing the program with the updated version from their website. I had not done so, but had been under the impression that it was "automatically" updating...it never was, and mine was very, very slow. Since I have re-downloaded/re-installed the program I have had no problems.

As for the tournament, thanks for the support. I know the chances of winning this tourney are slim, but like CT said it is good experience in MTT (Multi Table Tournaments). Plus, my game has been very solid lately and I have been placing quite a bit in these (nearly made the big money in the AP Weekly 1k challenge, finishing 22nd out of 646 on Sunday). So I have a lot of confidence coming into the big game :). We'll see what happens, hope to see a few of you there playing.

Just one other thing, I think this might be a good site to setup an FOFC Tourney Room, because we can determine the Tournament pricing and payout (i.e., 1+.15 or 2+.20...much cheaper then 10+1). With the lower buy-in we could obviously get many more involved. BTW, if anyone ever wants to play at AP or already does, my name is Bort3000 and I'm on there quite often.

Whoops. That was just a technical error. I meant Poker Stars, it's a little more apparent when you see that I typed "but Party" in the same sentence.

I wouldn't argue that Party has the best software. I just said that their games flow the smoothest and are simply the fastest. Just the one, simple, minor delay caused because PokerStars doesn't have a "muck hands automatically" and I have to wait a couple of seconds after I win a hand, or be right there ready to click the 'dont show' button causes a delay that party doesn't have since 99% of the playrs muck automatically and you don't sit around and wait for everyone in the hand to decide whether to show or not. That alone causes games at Pokerstars to be slower, and to take longer.

I'm not saying any of this is some terrible negative making pokerstars unplayable, I'm just saying that I prefer Partypoker's interface, the games go faster and I get more into a rhythm playing there.

Of course, none of this matters. Partypoker fish make it all irrelevant. Their software would have to be absolute shit(see Pacific Poker) for me not to play there :D

That said, I would still play at party if they had microlimits and allowed someone to transfer me $1 to build a bankroll from (I generally don't like to deposit money into a site).

Do you think many people know about that? I didn't, and I've always pointed to the fact that there's such a delay at the end of each hand b/c no one uses this feature if they know about it. i'll definitely go turn it on the next time I play though!

Well, making money is all I care about in the end - and that's why Party/Empire is where I play about 95% of my hands.

InterPoker gets my temporary business for their ridiculously easy free 50 bucks every month, and I jump on AP, UB, or PokerStars for the occassional tournaments - never for ring play, really.

Party has pretty shitty software, but there are many worse (Pacific, Absolute, InterPoker). I think UB has very good speed, a nice rewards system (UB points) and a truly innovatie mini-view option. If the games weren't so tight and the server problematic, I'd play their much more often.

Stars doesn't really have anything outside of tournament structure that I'm too crazy about.
