I'm crossposting this from the fantastic FOF Historical Project (http://www.cflfb.com/fof/fof.htm) site as these boards are a little more hoppin' and I figure someone will know the answer to my questions:

Hi all,

Due to technical difficulties (read: user error) I had to restart my Cowboys, 1970 dynasty. I'm now noticing that the Cowboys start out with only 37 players while a lot of the other teams are carrying 60 into preseason. Have I goofed somehow?

Also, I've noticed that if I dont turn off the x-factor I usually end up with one team that doesnt exist yet (TB, Jax, etc) having a power rating of 99 and the rest of the expansion teams having power ratings of 1. Again, am I doing something wrong or is that just how the game works? Turning the xfactor off makes all the expansion teams have ratings of 1 and horrid players which I prefer.

Thanks for any replies!

Hey OS,

My guess is that if you turn your settings to that your scout fills your roster with players, THEN start the game -- your team will have 60, also. The other teams got to 60 that way -- the rosters just get filled with rookies.

I guess I've noticed things a little differently. Even with the X-factor off, teams that had a lot of rookies always ended up with really good teams. I think the thing is that since that file is not complete (i.e. some teams only have 37 players, like the Cowboys). The teams that have fewer players end up adding more rookies, and due to the X-factor, they usually have better teams. The expansion teams have ALL rookies, and again due to the X-factor, a lot of those rookies end up being studs.

So I don't think you're doing anything wrong -- it's just the x factor makes those rookies look awesome. That's the way it's worked every time I've loaded the file.

Heya Per,
Thanks for the info. I should've just gone ahead and done what you suggested. I ended up just signing low budget rookies until the other teams cut their excess players (I was hoping this would happen in preseason but it didnt happen until after game 1), then signing some better players.

This is just such a cool concept though, I love the rookie draft, seeing names like Ahmad Rashad, Dan Deerdork, etc is a blast. We just drafted Franco Harris (suck it Pittsburgh :p ) !
