This has come up several times, so I thought I'd post and sticky it to help head it off for some of you. If you change your registration e-mail address in the user control panel, sometimes your account will get changed in such a way that I have to manually reset it in order for you to post. Unfortunately, I receive no notification that I need to make the change.

I have my doubts that this happens *every* time someone changes their e-mail address, because I probably only receive 1-2 e-mails a month from someone who is confused as to why they can't post, and I'd imagine change-of-e-mail-addresses happen more often than that, so we may be dealing with some sort of O.T. here. Point being, I'm not sure what causes it, but I wanted to make you aware that it could happen. If anyone has successfully changed e-mail addresses without Ryan or me having had to manually allow you to post, I'd love for you to post in this thread and let us know the proper procedures for doing so. (My most logical guess is that upon a change, an automated e-mail comes from vbulletin to the *old* e-mail address, and that address isn't getting checked.)

I did it and I'm pretty sure I didn't have any problems, but it was about 6 months ago. I'm almost positive that the email confirming this went to my old address so I suspect your theory is correct.

I have successfully changed my email address from the nimitz email to yahoo. I do believe I had to confirm from the yahoo address when I did so.
