View Full Version : Shooting Training?

I am a defender trainer that will be making the switch to shooting training. Has anyone tried this training before? Any idea how long players take to pop in scoring and set pieces? I figure now that I have my defense shored up, I can go offensive. I will have about 8 mil to work with and will buy some 17 year olds with solid or better passing and as low as passable scoring and set pieces. If it takes 8 weeks to pop, that will still work out as I will be training 13 players. My friendly team will be made up of all forwards, 10 players plus my 3 starting forwards. It can't be more than 8 weeks for scoring, can it? 5 weeks for set pieces? Those are my estimates anyway. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated

Strongly agree. Pick anything but passing and general and it makes more money in the long run.

last i remember hearing shooting takes like double the normal time. so something like 16 weeks per scoring level and 2-4 weeks per set pieces level. i have never tried it though.
the only big think about shooting is it trains everyone regardless of if they play. if you do go down this path (which i suggest you dont) is to hire the 49-50 team member limit. keep your normal line up, but have a ton of extra guys that never play. in like 3-4 seasons you might make a lot of money, but then again, you will probably jsut be flooding the market with mid-level strikers and drive down your own prices :)

Actually Shooting training only trains the players that play that week. It trains everybody on the field, but only if they play.
I've heard that it takes anywhere from 1.5x to 2x (10-14 weeks for a 17 year old) as long as normal scoring training. I've also heard that it takes 2-3x as long as it does to train Set Pieces as well. But, this is all speculation.
It is recommend that if you want to train offense, train Scoring, not Shooting.

Based on no actual calculations, I imagine training shooting could be more profitable than training scoring. However, you would need to have trainees that have at least outstanding scoring. At skill levels between outstanding and titanic, the market price increases roughly linearly for each level of skill. That is the difference in market price between brilliant and outstanding is about the same as the difference between a magnificent and a brilliant (obviously this doesn't hold for lower levels - pass to solid is much smaller than solid to excellent). Since you can train more than twice as many players with shooting, you can make more money. Plus you get a bonus from the set piece skill. At lower (or higher?) skill levels, you will lose money.
However, this training plan would be insanely expensive to start up. (min $2M per player)

Yeah, I wish forwards popped in 4 weeks. Your 17 year olds will go up about one level per season.

WOW one year! That is a lot longer than I figured it would take. Well maybe I won't be making the switch, but it seems like there has to be a way to make shooting profitable. What is the point of even having it as an option? Has it maybe been updated with the new hattrick 6.6? I just really want this to work. I mean you can train 13 players all at one time! I'm gonna' keep thinking it over.

See Masked's post to see how you can profit from shooting training. The other things that you have to consider (if you're training 13 players):
1. Your backups (at defender and midfield) will all be in crappy form because they won't be playing.
2. You can't make a good cup run playing forwards at midfield and defense.
Personally, I train at least 1 week of shooting in the offseason, I figure that if it trains at over 50% of scoring and adds set pieces, that it is overall better to train in the offseason. It will train all 6 of your forwards at 50% or above and give them a little set pieces as well.
