Honestly, after just throwing away 20 bucks on ring games over the past week.. i think i need to do some reading.. any suggestions of books to get?
I just don't understand it.. I feel i'm a fairly strong/above average tournament style player.. but in ring games i'm way below average.

If all you've lost is $20, then you still don't know what kind of player you are in ring games.

Assuming you are playing pretty low levels, this book might be worth a look. I don't really abide by all the advice in it -- but I think it could help give you the right frame of mind for ring games.
Lou Krieger's "More Hold 'Em Excellence" (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/188607013X/qid=1092398341/sr=1-4/ref=sr_1_4/103-9279238-6561456?v=glance&s=books=)
I don't necessarily recommend Amazon... there may be cheaper placed to buy it. But they have a nice layout page, of course.
