Cycling for Idiots?

So I'm becoming interested in this Cycling Manager 4 game after reading a little bit about it this afternoon...the problem is I know absolutely nothing about cycling.

Is there a good site out there with a primer on how it works? The extent of my knowledge is miniscule coverage of the Tour de France where all I've gathered is they ride bikes for a helluva long ways. ;)

Anyway, just looking for info on the basic setup of the races, info on what the team trials are exactly and all that other good stuff.

I'd go for the two wheeler in the cycle set up screen. I've never been able to be competitive with the unicycle.

The discussions that have surrounded the free cycling tabletop game recently released have included more info about the TDF and other big races than I've ever seen in my life. They also reference at least a couple of good resources for beginners to get a better grasp of the whole thing. If that might be helpful, try looking for threads that include "Tour De France" or "Phil Riviere" (the designer) at either of these forums

I got to do a little review writing for Sportplanet back when Cycling Manager 1 came out, eventually bought the game, but never got hooked on it, despite being a loyal follower what's going on in cycling.

I doubt I can be helpful for info on the Cycling Manager series.
