This was on the local radio show, so I thought it might be fun. List your top 5 favorite local sports "gamers". By this I mean guys that show up every game and work their tail off. These guys don't have to be superstars.

My 5:

Darren Woodson (Cowboys)
Dexter Coakley (Cowboys)
Hank Blalock (Rangers)
Michael Finley (Mavericks)
Kenny Rogers (Rangers)

I'm a fan of predominantly NY teams. I don't know if we have 5 who meet this criteria.

But I'll give it a shot:

Derek Jeter (Yankees), and I hate the Yanks, but must respect what he does...
Brian Leonard (Rutgers fullback)
Al Leiter (Mets)
Scotty Gomez (Devils), and again, I hate the Devils, but Gomez never quits.
*5th spot reserved for Jerome Williams (Knicks), once he makes his debut as a "local" player.

See? I used two players from teams I hate, one guy who is TBA, and another guy who isn't even a professional.

Scott Niedameyer ( Devil, jut got a much deserved contract)
Scott Stevens ( Best defenive-defensemen ever. period. Without him the Devils dont win one cup let alone 3)
Joe McEwing (Mets) SuperJOe they call him. Will do anything for the team. He went to the Minors last year because no one else had options)
Donovan McNabb(Eagles) I can't stand him but 3 straight NFC Championship games and the game he had when he broke his foot was pretty amazing
Kenyon Martin ( Ex-NEt) one of the most intense athelets I have ever seen

How do you (and Galloway) justify Finley? He has stretches where he has good to great game, but then he dissapears for stretches as well. I would classify Dirk to be more of a gamer than Fin by a long shot...

My five:

Darren Woodson (Cowboys)
Dex Coakley (Cowboys)
Roy Williams (Cowboys)
Mike Lamb (Rangers)
Brendan Morrow (Stars)

Good one with Morrow, Jeebs!

Darren Woodson (Cowboys)
David Carr (Texans)
Rob Dimaio (Stars)
Eduardo Najarah (Mavs, I'm not sure if he's still here, but he played hard)
Hank Blaylock (Rangers)

Sach, in regards to Najera (one of the guys on the radio had him as well), the orignal specifications were guys who played hard every day and produce. Eddie busts his butt, but he doesn't put up any big numbers.

I guess it's really all at how you look at the word "production", I suppose...

Well Galloway is an idiot but I agree with him on this one point. Finley showed up everyday when the Mavs sucked before Dirk and Nash. In fact he was about the only one that did. He played on some pathetic teams.

He does have cold shooting nights but he still does hustle and rebound and when the game is on the line he wants the ball.

Fred Beasley (Niners) Absolute workhorse, knows his role and doesn't complain
J.T. Snow (Giants) Incredibly hard worker on defense and had 3 hrs tonight.
Mike Dunleavy (Warriors) Fun to watch on defense and is a positive player
Scott Gragg (Niners) Veteran that knows how to play offensive line, it helps that he's 6'8''
Michael Tucker (Giants) Works real hard on defense, fun player to watch on the base pads and in the field.
