<U><B>School Budgets</B></U>

A new feature this year - budgeting your points between Recruiting, Training, and Discipline. Last season, I apparently didn't discipline enough (hence the scholarship restrictions), but at the same time I had a good number of points left over. With that in mind:

Discipline: 25%
Recruiting: 35%
Training: 40%

I feel while we have definite recruiting needs, I love the young skill position players we have, and would like to see an improvement there.

<B><U>Recruiting: Week One Scouting</U></B>

We scout a handful of players who have heavy interest in us, and are at 'need' positions.

HB Andrea Chapman (****): 5'10", 213 lbs from Riverdale, GA
#16 HB considering Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Auburn
40 Time: <S>4.22</S> 4.37
Field Awareness: <S>A+</S> A
Vertical Jump: 33.6"
Hands: A+
Bench Press: <S>365</S> 360
Squat: <S>610</S> 585
Potential: Good
Discipline: Excellent
<I>Andrea's a great kid. He's never been in trouble his whole life</I>

Okay, not a need position, but I had to check out a back with that kind of power and speed combination.

WR Casey Garner (****): 6'5", 220 lbs from Cordele, GA
#16 WR considering Florida State, Oklahoma, Georgia Tech
40 Time: <S>4.33</S> 4.41
Field Awareness: <S>A</S> A-
Vertical Jump: 41.6"
Hands: A+
Bench Press: <S>310</S> 340
Squat: <S>475</S> 470
Potential: Good
Discipline: Excellent
<I>He's got some potential, but we doubt he'll develop too much</I>
Worth pursuing, although getting a WR of this size away from Florida State might be tough.

T Cris Tatum (***): 6'7", 298 lbs from Mount Juliet, TN
#37 T (JuCo) onsidering Memphis, Georgia Tech, Iowa
40 Time: <S>5.20</S> 5.24
Field Awareness: A+
Vertical Jump: <S>34.8"</S> 34.5"
Bench Press: <S>490</S> 465
Squat: <S>720</S> 670
Potential: Good
Discipline: Average
<I>Don't beleive the hype, he's not as fast as advertised.</I>
So-so.

MLB Beau Gaines (****): 6'1", 221 lbs from North Decatur, GA
#5 MLB considering Oklahoma, Georgia Tech, Florida International
40 Time: <S>4.48</S> 4.46
Field Awareness: <S>A+</S> A
Vertical Jump: <S>29.2"</S> 29.7"
Hands: <S>A</S> B
Bench Press: <S>450</S> 440
Squat: <S>655</S> 655
Potential: Good
Discipline: Good
<I>Still has a lot of room to grow and get better.</I>
We like the look of Gaines a lot, and he would fill a need at MLB.

<U><B>Position Changes</B></U>

DE Darrell Robertson (Fr-RS) is being converted to LOLB. At 6'5", 215, he's undersized for a defensive end, and we'll short of some talent at OLB.

DT Joe Anoai (So-RS) is being converted to RE to balance Robertson's move to OLB.

CB Brian Fleuridor (So-RS) is being converted to FS in order to balance this next move.

FS Leonard Gates (Fr) is being converted to SS. Gates and Williams are both very good freshman players at FS, but Gates is slower, stronger, and a better tackler - we're sitting on two senior strong safeties this season, so Gates should develop well at the closer spot.
