Has anyone else found this to be such a great story? I love it and I am definetly rooting for them. And as I see it, after taking out portugal and costa rica, they shouldn't have too much trouble with morroco and will most likely move on to the quarters
EDIT - this is to see who moves on to the quarter finals, I had originally put semi's, also iraq has already guaranteed a birth in the quarters.

I think we all know that the real reason we invaded Iraq was so we could have an Olympic Soccer team.
Morocco will not be as easy as you think. Beating Portugal was a great victory bu Costa Rica is nothing to fear.
However, I will still be rooting for Irak. I like supporting the "Davids" instead of the "Goliaths".

Me too, thats why I'm rooting for the US in basketball. ;)

It's very interesting, and for some reason it makes me very proud. Hmmm.
I'd like to buy a jersey, or a hat or something. Anyone know a good place to look?

Man, people are weird sometimes. They are against freeing Iraq, but they root for them now they have a soccer team doing things in the Olympics. If Saddam was still in power, we would be against them I bet. (And I don't mean the people here specifically).

well iraq goes down 2-1, but portugal was upset against costa rica , so iraq wins the group and will avoid argentina in the quarters !

That's because deep down everyone know's it was the right thing to do. Democrat's are only bitter about it because it was a Republican president that carried out the war. Had a Democrat been in office, he would have done exactly the same thing and today Democrats would be championing all of the accomplishments in Iraq while Republicans would be looking to impeach him. A fact of politics, unfortunately.

politics had nothing to do with it for me...I just like underdogs. Iraq wasnt expected to win a game, let alone the group.

a comical look at what people said before they found out the iraqi soccer team doesn't bow down and worship Bush like good conquered natives should.
