I certainly think it's reasonable not to have pornography or nudity linked directly on this board. I think trying to eliminate all the other stuff that "Esteemed Long-Time Poster" isn't allowed to see just for his benefit is silly. "Esteemed Long-Time Poster" needs to get over it.

My company doesn't mind if I surf while working (yes...I can multi-task..amazing for some I guess), but they don't like my surfing places that have questionable content. I'm sure my company isn't the only one like that.

Edit: I don't think I saw the pictures in question, so I have no idea of the details about this specific case but I would prefer to see SkyDog be over-aggressive in this area and as pointed out above... a link to it works just as well.

I would hope any IT person investigating bad surfing habits might be able to tell the difference between pictures of, say, a Brazilian wax job and a Brazilian Olympic Volleyball player.

If someone had been sitting at a cubicle and opened that thread (or even a news site with those pics), and someone had walked by, they would have been called into serious scrutiny/question. Whether anyone likes it or not, the fact remains is that the great majority of FOFC's traffic is during the American work-day. My guess is that some people are surfing with permission, and some aren't. Either way, it is my strong opinion that for the good of maintaining our base of those who post, this board need to remain "work-safe." If you want to view questionable pics during the workday, I'm quite sure you can easily find them elsewhere.

The pictures weren't questionable. I don't remember the news source, but those pics could of very easily been on ESPN, CBS Sportsline etc... They were sports photo's and this was a sports message board...

If its a picture on a Sports News site, we should be able to post it on a sports message board.

But, I don't really care about the pics, I just like to argue...

Why can't you just disable hotlinking? You can make it so http://www.insertvariouspossiblynaughtysite.com has to be copied and pasted and can't be directed clicked on. Just remove just uncheck in the admin options for BB Code - Links Url Thread.

That would be the easiest fix. Of course that won't stop people from posting pictures straight to a post, but that's a seperate beast.

I hate the modding of this forum.Good for you. I think SkyDog is doing a great job, and I'm not even part of his alleged "inner circle" or clique. I think he lets most stuff go and helps maintain an atmosphere of civility and interest that keeps us all coming back. If he over modded the forum, no one would be here, and if he undermodded the forum, I believe it would go downhill quickly. Like it or not he invests a lot of time in this place, and he doesn't have to. Most of us just get to sit back enjoy the fruits of other people's labor. SD isn't in that camp.

That said, I am appalled at the posts lost by the deleting of the Brazillian Butt thread. So while I see the point that DD and others are making, I don't understand why it is too much to ask folks to not link directly to anything outside this forum.

That is my official position on what I will from now on call "Buttgate".
