Keepers and transition

I have a tiny problem with my situation at the moment. im currently training keepers and here are my two trainees:

Darrell Randall (29431987)
18 years, solid form, healthy
A nasty fellow who is calm and dishonest.
Has wretched experience and inadequate leadership abilities.

And here is the other one:

20 years, passable form, healthy
A controversial person who is calm and dishonest.
Has wretched experience and passable leadership abilities.

Obviously i have to sell Storm Rose due to his age. My plan is to sell him now get at least 2 mill. buy another trainee say a solid 17yr old train him and Randall into next season until Randall hits something like brilliant or i might just train the 2 to the end of the next season. Then ill sell randall and keep the new 17yrold trainee(18 by then). With the cash from Randall and Rose im hoping to make a transition to playmaking or scoring training.
Now here is the problem, storm rose is near to brilliant or should turn brilliant at the end of the season then i would cash in like 3 to 4 mill from him. But if i do that i dont think my new trainee is going to be as good as i want him when i make my transition. So any tips on when to make the transition, when to sell rose, or what to do?

Train Rose to brilliant, sell him, and pick up a 18 or 19-year old formidable to train. Training keepers from solid-excellent-formidable doesn't make much money anyway. By mid-next season you should have an outstanding and a brilliant, or maybe even brilliant+magnificent. Sell one, keep the other, and start your new training program.

Brillig is right on the money. Train Rose till the end of the season/brilliant. Take all that $$ and buy an outstanding 18/19yr old. You'll make a little bit in the transaction, while simultaneously upgrading your trainee (in the whole sense, obviously not in skill level).

Just my two cents as a former keeper trainer... my idea was to train a good keeper to use and switch to scoring. Finally my scoring training is getting under way properly, but I was too impatient with my keeper. I only got him up to brilliant before making the switch. My brother started shortly after I did. He did the same thing I did, except did not lose patience. Now he has a pretty good keeper 8-9 stars, and mine gets 5.5 at best. This makes his defense of solids/excellents good enough to hang around III. I would think about keeping either one until they are ET or so, if you can handle some extra wages. Wait until the other one is brilliant or so, and sell him, then go for a 17 at the beginning of next season. I think the 18 year old formidable next seaosn is a good idea, but set a huge goal for what you want your keeper to play at, and wait it out until he gets there.

Well to tell you the truth that was my plan in the first place, to make my keeper very damn good but playing this season it seems if i stick to keeper training i might not last the next couple of seasons in my division. I would constantly have to be upgrading different areas of my team. Especially my midfield. At least 2/3 of my divisin trains playmaking and that can kill me. But ill think about this plan again and see what happens.

I would think about it again for sure. If you can get him to 8 stars by age, say 21, then that is at least 8-9 seasons you have with him. Even if you demote, you'll be stronger in the long run with him behind your defense.

Storm rose is a cool ass name. Get him up to ET and i'd try to buy him ;)

Brilliant keeper is 5* in good form. I think you need magnificent (or high brilliant) to reach 5.5*. e.g. my keeper Jonathan Zuidema who's still only at 5*.

3 mil or so for brilliant, and stars depend on experience. A brilliant with good experience could pull more than 6, but we're talking passable or more exp.

shoot i dont kno if i shud keep him. He is kinda old and i want to keep my 18yr old intead. But who knos the season isnt near overing yet so ill see what happens for u future name lovers.:)
