I'm getting really, really tired of the Coca-Cola commercial during the Olympics with the woman walking down the street singing some damn song for what seems like 90 seconds. I hope I never hear this commercial again, but I think my best hope is that they just stop playing it when the Olympics are over. It annoys me. It bothers me so much that I felt the need to vent about it on an Internet message board.

If I videotaped myself walking around the neighborhood handing out coke, I'd be arrested so darn fast. Wait...what coke are we talking about?

I actually like the commercial. I like her voice, but I'm a sucker for acapella.

It's disturbing how the bottles of coke are already uncapped when she yanks them out of wherever they're coming from. I mean, I don't think I'm going to be drinking an opened bottle of anything that some stranger hands to me, especially if she's singing a jingle at the time.

its supposed to only apply to LA all the time and the rest of the country near the SAG awards but i talked the theatres here into doing it year round...they basically dont know any better so i get in all the time.

I'm watching the Olympics on BBC. They don't have commercials. It's nice.

My wife's favorite commercial. Since we are on Coke commercials....

I think the Vallina Coke comercials have got to be the worse promotional ideas ever. Aren't they suggesting that the only way people will drink Vanilla Coke is if they are forced by the mob?

Since we are on commercials in general...PLEASE make the new McDonalds chicken strips commercials go away. I turn the channel whenever one comes on....so annoying!!!!

I got the sense that ad guys noticed an audience watching previews one day and said to themselves, "Hey, people actually seem to be enjoying these. We must not be doing out jobs right. Let's start putting 10 minutes of ads for non-movie related crap in front of every picture. That'll learn 'em."

Am I the only person bothered by this? Isn't this in essence stealing from someone?

I don't know. Depends on what he means by "talked them into it." If it was, "Hey, come on, I'm an actor, you should give me perks like they do in LA," and they agreed, then fine. If he lied and told them that all theaters around the country are required to give SAG members free tickets and he was going to have his local SAG rep call the district manager to bitch if they don't let him in, then I've got a problem with it.

Otherwise, if they agreed just to stop him from whining (:p ), I don't see how that's any different than someone who's 59 bitching about not getting the senior discount, and the theater agreeing to give it to them.

I thought i was the only one who noticed that! I figured they were spilling over into her purse or bag or whatever, creating a sticky mess.

They play this before movies here too as well, its so annoying, almost as annoying as that infomerical for Trend Trading, which im just jealous of because i wanted to do a trading informercial years ago...

Probably in some people's view, its more a slap against my union that if I were to live in LA they would give me the free movies but because I live outside of La, they view me as a sub-standard actor, and not worthy of the small beneifts the other members get. That irritates the crap out of me, PLUS the fact that because Im union i cant do any work in my state that is non union cuz they'll crush me....yet this is a "right to work state" (dont get me started - Im a union guy but this union only pays attention to the well-to-do IMO).....Anyways, so I take advantage of the same benefit my "bretheren" get in LA.

Isn't that essentially what most unions have morphed into these days? Either looking out for the well-to-do or catering to special interests (usually one in the same)?

again, its more about a union giving some members benefits due to geography then me cuz Im not as good as joe blow with a SAG card but lives in a hovel in Toluca Lake. im the same guy, pay the same dues as when i lived there, yet for some reason they slap me cuz Im not in LA. THEN they pass the GLOBAL RULE ONE....its a SAG thing. anyways this union is super divisive and I pay out the butt to them.

Id say not all....like some owners of company's look out for their employees (Cisco) there are some that screw their people over.
