It's coming out next week for $19.99. Anyone picking this one up? I think I'll wait for reviews and hockey really isn't on my radar with baseball, football, and college football starting up... but for $20 if it's good, I'll get it.

Yeah, I'll get it, even though I was very disappointed in last year's version.

espn hockey is a good series... this one should be one of the best hockey games ever made...remember how nhl 94 kinda was way ahead of its time in hockey games, this is gonna be like that

Holy crap I can't believe this is coming out so early.
Always loved Sega's series. This is a guaranteed buy at that price.

Here's an article from someone who hates hockey but loves NHL 2k5 (IGN)

EGM reviewed it. They gave it 8's and 8.5's I believe and EA's game 6-6.5's. The reviews themselves were kinda odd and short. It was more of a roundtable thing than a review.

This thread needs more SHOULDER.
Anyone who played last year's ESPN hockey game should be familiar with that.

What are the odds that ESPN 2K5 is the one to break the roughly 20-year-old truism that "No hockey game, no matter how much of a simulation it claims to be, shall make any effort to include the concept of a 2-on-1 even though it's one of the most important plays in all of hockey"?

I havnt played a hockey game in three years. I hot sick of EA's NHL series and just didnt make the move over to ESPN NHL2K4 like I should have.

I'm really ticked that they didn't release these on Gamecube. I'm vehemently opposed to paying $50 a year for roster updates and many Gamecube fans feel the same and it's been clearly shown there are enough people on the other systems who will do it. But if they released NFL2K5 for $20, I would have picked it up in a heartbeat. Would have snagged a copy of this, too. Oh well. Their loss.

EGM reviewed EA and ESPN's hockey games in their last mag. ESPN got a much, much better review. Not even close from what they said, ESPN is the better game this year.

I have last year's game. I played the hell out of it but after awhile it got too easy. And when I would up the difficulty, the golaies became the famed uber-goalies. But at $20...I dunno. I probably will after I read what's new in the game.

Anyone get this yet? It seems as if there are no gaming stores here in New Mexico.

I will pick it up at some point, but not any time in the near future.
