Does anyone off the top of their heads know why guys like Larry Fitzgerald, Roy Williams, and Reggie Williams all chose the number 11 eventhough they are all wide receivers? :confused:

They changed the rules to allow 11-19 for WR, call it the Keyshawn rule. They all wore 1 in college so 11 is logical.

they did not change the rules, those have always been eligible numbers.

A big reason is more likely that buy the time Fitzgerald signed, there were already 10 WR's under contract (for training camp) having all taken the 80's numbers up. This is the specific reason Keyshawn got #19 - there simply were no remaining 80's left on the Jets by the time he signed. When the jersey started selling well, he opted not to change it.

The rules have been changed. The numbers 80-89 do not all need to be taken before 10-19 can be used by receivers.

No, I believe that the ball will be declared dead as soon as a player from the receiving team touches it, given that he or one of his teammates has signalled for a fair catch.

Kelley Campbell wears 16 being as an undrafted free agent rookie all the 80's were gone when he was signed, in part because Minnesota has retired 80 (Cris Carter) and 88 (Alan Page), and kept the number after making the team (not sure if there were any open 80's even after cuts were made).

As far as Moss, he wore 18 in the preseason until Tony Bland who had been 84 was cut. Video games had him wearing 18 for his rookie season though.
