Looking for something more along the lines of, say, THIS:

Once upon a time there was an amalgamation of fifty somewhat autonomous states. They had begun as a mere 13 disparate colonies who banded together under the fraternal brotherhood of Freedom and "We the People." Thence they proceeded to follow their Manifest Destiny, westward ever westward, until a veritable profusion of states billowed forth from the prairies and mountains. Then came Hawaii.

So I say, "GO!" Go, bastion of Freedom. Go, red, white and blue. Defeat the barbaric heathens of the north.
