I am playing as Kettering in my latest CM 4 game and I am sturggling in the Conference (not using any super tactics or the such). I think I am in 12th place. I work out a deal for a great young 19 year old midfieler who actually wants to come to my club. The transfer fee is $0. No other fees apply, just $0. He agrees to a contract and my board says no funds are avaliable. WTF?
He winds up going to a Norweigan club where his value sky rockets to $525,000. Thanks board, glad to see we want to win the Conference in the next ten years.

Yeah, I played as Kettering too until my player file got too big for my computer, and crashed the game. I would say 12th is a good position to be in for the first season. Are you over the wage limit?

:D :D :D
and no I'm not getting at CM (I've had similarly idiocies in SaaP as a result of not anticipating all the circumstances that can occur). That's a beauty
Mind you, imagine how you would have felt had the sale gone through and you'd been sacked for bad financial management :)

Was he requesting a sign on fee? That's on the contract page and is possible to miss. I know I've had deals killed because I couldn't afford the sign on fee.

Did the player have a 'signing on fee' in his contract offer? - this is probably the cause.

Most likely he did.
All I play is LLM. I usually start with Scarbourgh and they are usually in the red and over the wage cap. It is a real struggle to get them promoted out of the conference. Took me two seasons my last franchise. I've finally gotten them up to Division I.

How may games do you play in the cofnerence a year?

How many teams are there? You play everyone twice. I think there are 22 teams, so you would play 42 games.if that is true.
You also play in the FA Trophy tournament and the FA CUP and I think the Vans Trophy. A good way to make money as a LLM is to really focus on those tournaments.

I got beat out in the FA Cup by the freakin Stafford Rangers. I am not in the Vans Trophy so my last hope is the FA Trophy.

Unlucky - if it makes you feel better my lower league management career in Football Manager hasn't involved any spectacular Cup runs yet .... :(
(although it has involved promotions :D)
