My league's draft was last night. I just want to get some opinions from the minds around here and see how they think I did.
This is a 10 team league. Pretty much everyone in the league knows what they are doing for the most part. I had the 10th pick. Here's how the first round went coming to me.
1.1 Holmes
1.2 Tomlinson
1.3 Portis
1.4 A. Green
1.5 McAllister
1.6 Shaun Alexander
1.7 J. Lewis
1.8 E. James
1.9 Travis Henry
I'm a guy that firmly believes that you win at FF with 2 good RBs. At this same spot last year, I got Jamal Lewis and Fred Taylor. This year, I didn't feel like the RBs were there for me at 10. SO, I did what some might think is unthinkable and took Harrison and Moss, hoping that Marshall Falk would make it back to me. So, we have:
1.10 Marvin Harrison
2.1 Randy Moss
Things didn't happen they way I needed them to coming back to me.
2.2 Culpepper
2.3 Manning
2.4 Holt
2.5 Owens
2.6 Dillon
2.7 Barlow
2.8 Chad Johnson
2.9 Chris Brown
2.10 Fred Taylor - I was surprised to see him drop this far.
3.1 Hines Ward
3.2 McNabb
3.3 M. Faulk - Picked by my best friend who picked behind me in a draft Sat and I was able to dictate his draft. He didn't like it and knew I wanted Faulk when it got back to me.
3.4 Steve Smith
3.5 Coles
3.6 Santana Moss - Too early in my mind
3.7 T. Gonzalez
3.8 Rudi Johnson
3.9 Domanick Davis - After Faulk went, I wanted this guy.
At this point, I felt Stephen Davis was my best option. I know Foster is breathing down his neck and I was hoping to get him later, just in case.
3.10 Stephen Davis
This league has 1 RB, 2 WR and 1 RB/WR. Knowing I could start 3 WR, I took Derrick Mason at 4.1. He was my highest WR left at 7.
So, this year I am stuck going to the 1 RB 3 WR route. The good thing is I have Moss and Harrison. The bad thing is my 1 RB may not be worth a damn in a few weeks.
As the rounds passed, the RBs I wanted weren't falling to me. Here's how the rest of the draft went for me.
5.10 Trent Green
6.1 Jerry Porter
7.10 Alge Crumpler
8.1 Steven Jackson*
9.10 Lamar Gordon
10.1 Jason Elam - I usually save K for my last pick. Since I was changing up so much already this year and he was there at this spot, I took him.
11.10 Willis McGahee*
12.1 Tatum Bell*
13.10 David Carr
14.1 Daniel Graham
15.10 Josh McCown
16.1 Minnesota
* I know these guys are in the 2nd RB spot on their teams. I figure at least one of the 3 will get the ball when the guy infront of them gets hurt.
I didn't get Foster like I wanted. He was taken at 15.4. The more he dropped, the more I thought I could get him at 15.10. I probably should have taken him at 14.1 instead of Graham. At this point in the draft, only 5 TEs were taken, so I figured I would take another decent (as decent as TEs get) and hurt someone there.
Last year, I was the highest scoring team in this league by over 300 points. The problem was, I played everyone the week they scored their highest score of the year. I was losing games 128-122.
My strategy was totally switched up with the way the players fell to me this year. I'm hoping like crazy that Harrison/Moss make up for my lack of RBs.
After my 4th pick, I spent the rest of the night angry. :D
Let me know what you guys think.
