I was only trying to get a reaction, I would've deleted them anyway.

Instant replay is very annoying. You gotta trust the refs calls on the field. I think the only reviewable thing should be the sidelines. All the "down by contact" and "was it a fumble" stuff is highly annoying.

Shaun Ellis fuckin bullshit! He runs offsides real bad so Willie Anderson like tackles him so he doesn't hit Palmer. Palmer hits CJ 43 yards down field, but Willie gets holding on the play so the penalties offset and we redo 3rd down. Fuck that. If Ellis had not jumped early, we would be in Jet territory again. (Willie Anderson had last gotten called for holding in 2002).

You've got to realize the Bengals receiving corps is deep, lead by one of the biggest budding stars in the game. OTOH, this entire Bengals defense is scaring me, reminding me of last year. I just hope this bull changes when we get Brian Simmons back.

On the same line of thinking, the Jet offense is pretty solid. Though their (the Bengals) run defense looks pretty bad.

Even though they are down right now, I like the way the Raiders look. 2 turnovers(1 fumble, 1 throwaway he didn't quite get away) by Gannon, but other than that he has looked really decent. I like the D too, I'm not saying they are the greatest team around, but they may surprise some people this year. I look for a big defensive play sometime in the 2nd half to turn the game around in the Raiders favor.

Stupid NFL countdown guys. Berman asked them all how many yards Lewis would get against Cleveland. Steve Young said 110, I think Irvin said 200, Jackson said 180 or 190. Lewis is 12 for 35 yards. I hate both teams, but I thought it was stupid that they all just figured he'd have another great performance just because it was who he got 295 against last year.

I love all our wideouts. Warrick displays his ability to take a 8 yard button hook, run across the field sideways and turn it into a 20 yard gain. Then Palmer throws a deep ball to CJ who just makes another awesome catch for the score. Is Chad Johnson the best receiver in the league? Honestly, only Moss has impressed me more than him in the years.

This might be the first time in a log while that the Giants have a better offense than defense. THe offense is not doing too badly, but the defense has given up 3 huge plays already (2 long passes, 1 long run) and it's not even the end of the 1st quarter.
And as I type this, the defense gives up another TD to Owens.

Yeah, that was my mental "lock" of the week. :(
When I saw Ogden was out, this was my lock of the week too. I would have taken a straight up bet on this game. (as it was I got points and won $75)
Kyle Boller is one of the worst QB's I've ever seen. Combine that with a running game that becomes average at best with Ogden out, and I'm actually surprised Baltimore put a single point on the board.
I'll stick by the prediction I'd made a couple of weeks ago. . . If Boller doesn't play better (and I don't think he will), the Ravens will not win that division. And if they don't win that division, they likely don't go to the playoffs.
With that defense, ANYTHING is possible. . . but I just don't think they are THAT good on defense and the offense is simply horrible.

Some random thoughts. . .
1) Moss looks as good as I've ever seen him. He's blocking EVERY play. Haven't seen him take a play off yet.
2) Vick, Pennington, Culpepper, Brees, Dorsey, McNabb, Brady. . . ummm WOW. Just wow.
3) Larry Fitzgerald is the REAL deal. Ditoo Roy Williams. (both of em) :)
4) The Bills continue to waste that defense. What an incredible D and they continue to throw it away. Sad. . . just sad.
5) The Giants look like last years version of KC. . . but they only have an average offense.
6) Shaun Alexander, Charles Rogers, Shane Andrews. . . the injuries are starting.
update on Alexander.....
News
ESPN's John Clayton is reporting that Shaun Alexander (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/5048/) suffered a mild knee sprain in the Seahawks' 21-7 win over the Saints on Sunday.
Views
Alexander's status for next week's game at Tampa Bay will be determined later. Maurice Morris (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/5940/) should be on your roster as insurance. If you didn't draft him, it's too late to get him without paying through the nose. If another owner drafted Morris, be ready to field a phone call from him on Monday looking to make a deal you can't refuse.

Seriously. . . he's approaching Kelly Stoufer territory. He looks lost out there. And he doesn't show flashes. Leftwich and Palmer had poor games today, yet you saw why both could become great QB's. They each had flashes of absolute brilliance. (Palmers long TD pass to CJ, Leftwich on the final drive) Kyle Boller has a strong arm. Other than seeing it on very rare occasions, have I ever had the feeling he could succeed in this league.
He's playing on the right team, he should get plenty of chances. . . but I just don't see it.

On FOX they just said that Alexander has a broken leg. Great.
The Eagles, Alexander, the 1st round pick, not the Seahawks RB, don't want to alarm any Seattle fans.

I'm most likely going to stay away from it. I went 2-1 this weekend, but have a sour taste in my mouth after the BAL/CLE game....
Cleveland game killed me too, that and Ohio State yesterday. If the Vikings don't cover i'm out of my bankroll on opening weekend, and man would that suck.

Yeah, didn't realize the stats were that good. With the pass to Johnson, it became a pretty good game. The pass on the final drive was horrible. The pass to Johnson was pretty special. (though I hope he realizes CJ is one of about 7 or 8 WR in this league that can make that catch)
He's clearly better than Kyle Boller and I'd say he's better than Leftwich as of right now. (though Leftwich showed some guts today, the reason I've liked him better all along)

My take on all the stats...
Warner continues fumbling... twice on sunday (although Eli fumbled once so...)
Donovan Fucking McNab. FOUR TD's, 3 to TO. wow.
Jamal Lewis does He Haw against the team he KILLED last year (20 for 57)
Detroit win on the road for the first time in a million years.
Portis takes it to the house and picks up 148 yards along the way. Welcome to washington... Not much in the passing game for the skins though...
Marshal Faulk piles up 128 yards but no td but a 2pt
Emmit has gas in the tank with 87 yards and a TD
Gannon gets 2 TDs and 2 ints. Raiders have crappy run game.
Deuce staley runs for 91 yards but bettis has 3 td's and 1 yard!!!!!
Palmer looks good in debut, 2tds 1 int, 248 yards.
Pennington 224 and 2tds
MARTIN 196 yards, 1 td, 7 yards recieving.
Sean Alexander, 135 yards and 2 tds.
Brees plays well with someone on his tail.... 209 yards and 2 tds.
LT gets 121 and a td.
My (FRIKKING BACKUP) RB Davis for texans gets 87 and 2 tds
A gates (TE) gets 123 yards recieving....
Vick only gets 10 yards rushing on 6 attempts but Vicklanta wins.
Rattey gets 2tds for 9ers...
Testaverdi, obviously too old to play gets ****355*** yards and a TD.
But culpepper gets FIVE friggin tds. 2 to mosss.
Vikes A Winfield forces 2 fumbles.
Brady 335 3tds
Edge gets 142 but no TDS (he's like that...)
Randy McMichael (TE) gets 79 and a TD
C Brown for Titans gets 100 yards (what round was he drafted in in this league?... WAAAAY Below my J Lewis anyway...)

1) Moss looks as good as I've ever seen him. He's blocking EVERY play. Haven't seen him take a play off yet.
He played well, despite putting up litte in the way of stats. Only 27 yards receiving, though also with 37 yards passing and a long pass interference call, had some solid blocks on plays like N-Beezy's swing pass. It seemed like Dallas was so worried about Moss beating them that they let most everyone else do whatever they wanted to. They neutralized Moss as a threat, but still gave up 35.
Culpepper had a great game and is showing much better decision making than he has before in his career. With the players he has around him he could put up some scary numbers this year.
The defense played well overall. They did give up a lot of yards, and Williams and Jones being forced into bigger roles than they were supposed to have this week didn't help, but they still held Dallas to only 17 points. They continue their impressive play in the redzone from the preseason though, which is what kept this game from being close. The pass rush does need to improve though.

I don't believe a pushout can be reviewed.

As I understand it, if it's ruled a pushout, it can't be reviewed, but if it's ruled incomplete, they can review to see if he was pushed out.

I think a lot of the people who were down on Testeverde failed to even look at his stats from the last two years. QB was never a problem for the Jets, even when Pennington was out.
As long as Henson pans out, there will be no ill-effect from losing Carter.

Btw, if Brees ends up breaking out this year, and last year was just a sophmore slump, is it possible the Chargers' draft picks look even worse than they usually do? :D
I could hug Curtis Martin; the old man put new wheels on the walker. Either our O-line is much improved, or the Bengal front-7 are a mess...
Chad looks like he's back to his old self and the receivers are strong. Now if we can just stop someone on third down (or any down), I'd feel better. We can't live/die on turnovers.
Of course, with the Jets schedule, they could probably moonwalk to a wild card spot...baring injury of course.

The schedule is set up perfectly for a late-season collapse... beware.
I had to watch the Jets game from a sports bar (without sound), subjected to the Bills game over the speaker...
At any rate, could someone who heard the game explain what the hell happened with that Chad fumble, which apparently wasn't a fumble? You know, the one where he dropped the ball and then it rolled up his arm?
Was it ruled a fumble and then an incomplete pass, because his arm pushed it forward?
Dola -
Eh...I figure we'll have 10 wins by the time we hit Seattle, New England, and St. Louis.
San Diego, Miami, San Fran, Cleveland, Arizona, Houston, and Pittsburgh certainly don't scare me.
I imagine the Ravens will beat us (if Lewis is active), am assuming the Pats will sweep us, and we'll probably be "upset" by one of the teams above, given our poor defense.
I'm guessing 10-6, assuming Seattle lives up to the hype and the Rams O-line doesn't bury Faulk and Bulger.
The schedule is set up perfectly for a late-season collapse... beware.

Jets note: Martin needs 9 yards to become the team's all-time leading rusher. I'm very happy for him. He should be no worse than #6 all-time at the end of the year.
By the end of the season (barring seriously injury to Faulk or Martin), 4 of the top-10 all-time rushers will be active in the league (Smith, Bettis, Martin, Faulk). It seems amazing.

So, is the Bengals D that bad, or the Jets O that good?
Because holy crap the Bengals defense looked horrendous. Give me a pass rush or a run defense... either one. The only play they defended well was that fake run left, bootleg right throw the Jets love to run.
Palmer makes one bad throw... but at the most crucial time of the game.... very Kitna-esque.
Still think the Bengals will do well, but hopefully that D will get better. Maybe the Dolphins will come in and stink it up Sunday night.

The best line I heard was that it looked like the Cincy D was playing with a couple guys in the penatly box or something. Curtis Martin would turn the corner and there was just nobody at all there. Disappointing out of Lewis the defensive mastermind.
On the positive Palmer looks good and C.Johnson can really play.

Unless Mike Holmgren has Alexander on his fantasy team, I have no idea what he was still doing in the game at the point he was injured. The Seahawks were up by two scores late in the 4th quarter, and the Saints were being pushed off the line of scrimmage at will. Why don't you put in the backup for your pro bowl running back when you in garbage time?
I hope that Alexander is OK.

I was looking for some reason why the Bengals D was so shitty. I can't give any excuse for the D-line, they SUCKED WIND, seriously we need to beat the shit out of our front 4 and maybe wake them up, cause they played like they were in a coma.
The linebackers on the other hand is purely injuries. SImmons was out and both strong rookies, Lnadon johnson and Caleb miller had sprained ankles and couldn't run full speed (explaining why there was no-one to be seen when Martin turned the corner on the outside.....
The secondary played great, with one glaring exception. madieu Williams needs to get with the program. I think though this game was more of a nerves thing...he got beat early and started looking likea deer in the headlights. I think he'll settle in and do well. With O'Neil back healthy the secondary should be solid.
GOD GIVE US A PASS RUSH, PLEASE!!!!!
*sighs*
The only saving grace of this game was our passing game, there is no doubt about the switch now, kitna could never have thrown, let alone completed, half of those passes. And even Palmers one pick was actually more due to an outstanding play by the Jets rookie Safety, he got there alsmot too late and made and superior hands grab to make the play.
Good job Jets, we'll get you next time.
