I'm looking for input from anyone that has maybe bought one or looked around recently. There's a couple of Bose systems I'm researching and a Panasonic one but was curious to see if anyone had any 1st hand experience with any of them. The most expensive we're looking at is prob $1500 so keep that in mind :) Which system would you reccommend? If different, which system gives the best bang for your buck? I'm looking at ads for the Bose 3-2-1 GS Series II Home Entertainment System now but am leerly as it has no back speakers. Any help is appreciated :)

I don't have a specific model to point you at, but Polk Audio makes excellent speakers.

I second Polk's quality.

everything ive read says bose is crap. theres lots of good sites out there, dvdtalk.com has a good home theater section where people can answer questions.

i have a panasonic sa-xr25 receiver, and celestion speakers. i got everything on sale a few months ago (sears was moving all their receivers at like half off, and best buy was clearing out the celestions), so it only cost me about $400 or so, but i guess was worth more. regardless, ive never played around with the $1500-range, so i wont pretend to know what im talking about. but the best advice you get probably wont come from an (off-topic) football board..

No Bose. They are alright, just way overpriced. For the same price you can get something much better. Go to hometheaterforum.com or dvdtalk.com, lots of good information there.

If I had $1000 to spend on speakers I would take a long look at the Onix Rocket ELT-1 system. Here (http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_11_1/onix-rocket-elt-1-speakers-3-2004.html) is a link to a review. Then you can pick up a good receiver like the Yamaha 5760 for about $330 over the internet.

You might also want to check out Denon for a good receiver. I read they will have a new entry into the sub $500 market before December. If you can wait until that comes out(or maybe it already is?), that could be your best choice. If its not out yet, the Denon AVR1804 is also a very good choice. You can find that on the internet for about the same price as the Yamaha.
