Hey guys, I'm the commish of my yahoo FF league with my buddies for the first time in five years, so I don't know all the rules and such that well -- plus I'm not usually online during weekends to know this. Can someone tell me if I have this right?

According to http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/football/football-20.html -- since the deadling for a current week is 11:59 pm PT, if someone picks up a player, that still goes into effect this week. Someone is trying to pick up a player who is currently playing, and wants to drop a guy that has finished playing, but he says the site won't let him. Is it because he can't make the change for week 1 (since the guy is playing now), and he can't make changes for Week 2 until after 11:59 pm PT?

Thanks in advance for the help!

You should still be able to start/bench players of teams who haven't played yet (Denver, KC, GB, Carolina), but other teams' players can't be benched or put into the starting lineup.
I guess they protected that too in the dropping/signing routine.

Perhaps you can still drop Brett Favre and pickup Priest Holmes (in the 1 of a million chance he's there), but you can't drop Jay Fiedler and pickup Jerome Bettis.

Still a theory though...

So does that mean this guy was to wait until 11:59 pm PT to make his roster move for next week?

The transaction for STARTERS is 5 minutes before their game starts (second paragraph). If the player he is trying to dump is a starter, he can't do it. He has to wait until Monday. If the player he is trying to drop is a bench player, he can do that.

However, Yahoo is having server problems right now and legal transactions like that cannot be processed. I tried to do one earlier and was denied. If it is indeed a legal transaction (dropping a bench player for a FA), as commish I would have him send you the players involved and take care of the transaction manually if Yahoo still lets you do that -- it's been a couple of years since I commished a Yahoo league.

Thanks, kcchief! The guy wants to drop someone on his bench, so it should work. I'll tell him to try it again.
