View Full Version : Superpower 2 demo is out!
Their official site is not updated with this news, but you can read and download it at another games news sites like:
Courtesy of Dreamcatcher we now have a playable demo of this global geopolitical simulation game which allows players to control entire countries. The 160 MB single player demo offers desktop dictators a 90 minute timed Russian scenario where they can attack other countries, perform covert actions or stir things up abroad with war declarations. They’ll witness the cause and effect consequences of their actions from an atlas mode view.

I'm downloading it right now, let's see if finally the game is as good as it looks and doesn't have as many bugs as the first version.

Please let us know if Angola can still annex the U.S.

Is it a bad sign that I couldn't get the demo to run?

Yes but it is also a bad sign you are trying to play it this early in the morning ;)

The power is out at my house due to the remnants of Hurricane Ivan, but my office has power. I was here late last night, and have been here since around 5:30 this morning. :p

I'm not impressed. Seems just as "incomplete" as SP1. The interface is terrible and I'm sure there are dozens of showstopping bugs that will exposed once the game is released and all the options are available.
As for errors, make sure you have DirectX 9.0c.

This game is a Starforce game.
Not giving any opinions, I just thought I would alert people.

I believe it is a copy protection system that nobody likes. There was a really long thread about it here a couple of months ago.

phew. just read through the starforce thread. Does anyone know if the results of that test that Jeff Jones did were shown to MV? I'd hate to think of Starforce being considered by SI.

Starforce is like some horrible parasite that comes along with some decent games, it's just not worth it to install that junk. Cheaper to just destroy my computer myself instead of paying a middleman.

I only read 1 thread about Starforce in the Golem Labs forum and it said the demo and final release are not Starforce. Was this offically announced somewhere else?

I hope someone can confirm if it has Starforce or not. I was really looking forward to trying this out, but won't touch it if it has Starforce.

The demos of games that use Starforce have to date all used Starforce as well. To see if you have it on your computer go to your device manager list (In XP: Control Panel...System...Hardware...Device Manager) and check "Show Hidden Drivers". If you've got it you'll see four Starforce drivers listed there.
If you find the drivers, don't manually delete them unless you really want to screw yourself over. Also, deleting the game/demo that uses Starforce most likely will not remove the drivers. You've got to download a special utility for that: (http://www.codemasters.co.uk/downloads/?downloadid=16188).
